how is my chameleon is doing so far?

What is poor and ignorant about telling someone to do their homework. Obviously you didn't read my statement and then get my point. Looking what you copied, you missed my last sentence. A lot of information here is valuable. However, if you people are going to "advise" to a new comer to the chameleon world, please give him/her full complete information. Example: Chameleons can drink from a water bowl that has moving water. Is it recommended, No. But don't tell someone new to remove a water bowl and not give a reason why. If this person, doesn't know why he/she is doing something, how is the information you are given them useful. Think about it. Just the fact that you have a problem with me telling someone to do their homework and read is "Poor and Ignorant".

sorry but this is very poor and ignorant information.

What is ignorant is pretty much telling the OP to ignore what we are telling them that NEEDS to be changed if they don't feel it would be "right for them". All chameleons are the same and need specific care and through many errors we give the information we do. Any advice we give that we say to pretty much immediately change is more than likely crucial and searching on these forums will give them the same exact information. But you should not insinuate they should ignore it if they think it is right for them because in doing so their chameleon could die of any number of things. They are very fragile and unlike a cat or dog there is a set guideline that needs to be followed to insure that their chameleon can live happy and healthy and there is not much room for error.

I use ordinary kitchen paper. It soaks up water from the dripper & I use it to wipe the bottom as I remove it. I guess a fairly strong tissue paper would be best, something that holds its strength when damp. I change the paper usually once a day- but it depends if I've messed with the dripper & it gets soggy, then I change it twice. Substrate's really not worth the risk, but don't worry, they're tree dwellers and don't need bedding. u just need to line the bottom really :)

isnt that sort of a waste of paper? i mean personally i would use cloth as a replacement for the paper. just me though.

You missed the point. Completely! Sadly, you're a Senior Member

If I told someone to get rid of the water bowl, and this person did just that. What could possibly happen? Hummmm... I don't know? But I can you this, this new chameleon owner just got told some seriously harmful information. This new member, got told by someone to put an air filter line in his/her chameleons bowl to create moving water. Now, you're telling me that someone just told them to take out the water bowl just because is ok.

Oh yeah! It might be a good idea to tell this person WHY they need to do something, rather that just blurt something out. I'm not dissing any members here. There's a lot of great information here. There's also a lot of information here that has no reason why. That information is useless. That information can be fatal.

It's probably worth taking out the water dish, it can be an excellent breeding ground for bacteria and they are fairly uncoordinated so there's a strong chance of drowning. It would be a good idea to get a hygrometer (which measures humidity), it doesn't need to be an expensive Reptile one, you can get them in Walmart for cheap, or get one of the fairly cheap disc ones and calibrate it using this method: https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/wykd/683-calibrating-your-thermometer-w-probe.html[/COLOR]

It WAS explained why. Also if experienced keepers are telling someone to do something over and over, there need not be a "why" just a "do" and it will be explained. if the same information is given multiple times to someone there is obviously a reason and there should be no hesitation, ask "why?" after the problem has been corrected. People coming here for advice get it from all of us experienced keepers, but sorry if we don't COMPLETELY explain "why?" every single time we post advice for a new keeper, but these seemingly small things are not to be taken lightly.

The OP did wonderfully and fixed their setup, it looks very good. They can always tweak it to their liking, but without doing something that could harm their chameleon.

I am fully aware someone came in and explained "why". It was also after the fact, and it was a different member. Again, you are missing the point. My only point without giving any advice was READ, READ, READ and DO YOUR HOMEWORK. I am a former United States Marine, if I followed my order to a T in combat every time I given them , I would have been a dead man already. Not all information is good information, and you would be ignorant if you acted before thinking every step of life. For the most part in here, the information is excellent. But from time to time, you get know those it all member who tell people to do something, and they are either wrong or not thorough enough. If you are not going to explain something in full, then you shouldn't say anything at all. So yes, if was explained (later on), but might I add, not before I started writing my post.

I am going to jump in here and say if they READ, READ, READ, they will find out that justjumptoit(who has been around for quite awhile if you notice) knows what she is talking about. I want to add that a water bowl in a cage that size could be a potential drowning pool for that tiny chameleon. Chameleons fall as they are climbers. I would hate to see that little guy fall in that bowl and drown. Telling someone to leave substrate in the cage is PLAIN ignorant. If you stay a member long enough you are going to see time and time again people's chameleons are injesting substrate. Most of the time it is on accident. Go READ and you will see a post the other day with that exact thing happening. To the OP, good choice on removing the substrate.

but telling someone to ignore sound advice is just plain wrong. JMHO
