I put my female veiled in w my male today and they have been together for 30 min. The f still has receptive colors as does the male. Neither is showing aggression. The m just has the f in a bear hug but I don't see and insertion....how long does this take?

Fyi the m is about 16 months and has never breed b4. Maybe he doesn't know what to do...the f is 14 months.

Pudge- How long it takes depends on the individuals involved. If she is still showing receptive colors I would leave her in there and try not to disturb them. It is good to keep an eye on them just in case, but stand back and let them do their thing.

I have had pairings that have only lasted 30 minutes from introduction to finish, and others that have lasted several hours. Also, sometimes they take a break and continue again, could this be the case for your veileds? Regardless, they will figure it out, just give them some space :)

Some males know what to do right away. Sometimes it takes a couple tries before they figure things out.
Actual matings can last anywhere from around 10 minutes to around 45 minutes. Many times, the male will try and mate again(and sometimes, again and again). As long as the female goes along with it and doesn't show gravid coloration, you can keep her in the cage. If the male starts acting aggressive or the female starts rejecting him, remove her from the cage.
