how man super worms would a 3 month viel eat? im putting in about 8 a day. the dust doesnt stick to the worms eithe. should i just dust with d3 and multi on crickets? thanks

Superworms should be gutloaded and dusted (as best you can) - they should make up no more than 20% of a chameleons diet. A varied diet of no fewer than 5 prey choices is also a good plan.

I only give super worms as a treat. They are not that good of a staple feeder. What are you gutloading your feeders with?

i just gutload with carrots or potatoe. i dont feel like going to petco every week and buying diff food. my buddy breeds superworms and roaches so thats what i will be feeding fo the majority of its life... im thinking of just buying crickets a few times a month and dust those

carrots and potatoe are inadequate
Have a look at these:

or if you are kinda lazy, consider Repashy Bug Burger.

Sounds like you have three prey items easily on hand - supers, roaches and crickets. Wouldnt be that hard to add butterworms or silkworms or terrestrial isopods or cultured blue bottles or whatever two or more choices....even if only now and then. Your chameleon would be happier (probably healthier) for it.

the superworms dont need to be heavily coated, just lightly dusted. Careful with the water; supers drown easiily

thats cool and all. but to gutload with 10 items is a little much. i dont even see people do that with their dogs. i want to keep him alive im not trying to breed or have a show room chameleon.

But dog food (even the crappy brands, but more so with the better, more holistic brands) have all the nutrients and minerals that your dog would ever need to live well. It's an all-in-one food.

So with something like the Rapashy Bug Burger (which is a powder that you mix with water to make a jello type food whenever you need it) works on the same principle. It's going to be an all-in-one food that you feed your insects so that the insects, by consequence, are more nutritious.

Remember that most insects are more shell than anything. So your chameleon can survive on the bare minimum that insects have as far as meat, but they will live longer and better if they are properly gut-loaded. It's super easy, takes two seconds to throw some pre-mixed food in the cricket/roach bin every couple nights.

It's not about having show-room chameleons, it's about having a pet be healthy and long-lived, if possible. Want him to survive or thrive?

i seen fl cham in pomona swap meet n they stress the shit outa them n they seem to do ok

I'm not sure how this has to do with their diet? And FL Chams treat their animals really well that I've ever seen, they go to the shows and set them up in really good cages, with their plants and lights. And I bet you their animals eat well when they're at home!

oh man fl chams is amazing. my chameleon was a total pig straight out of that store lol!

i got my female cham at 2~ months old and she's 1 year old now with amazing appetite. she'll eat anything in her "sights"
