how many eggs does one silkworm moth lay?

I have found varying answers to this question. Anyone know?

20 to 30ish in my experience, but not all will be viable.

I usually get a couple hundred eggs per moth. I enclose them with a toilet paper roll so that they lay in a nice circular area that is perfect for my petri dishes that I hatch them in. There is a picture in my bog that shows the circles laid per moth.

I always thought it was way more like 100-200 each. I got about 100 cocoons going right now and will update in a week or so.

First two moths came out this morning. They locked up so ill see what i get for eggs

That is entirely possible

Best of luck! I never had problems getting them to lay... Keeping the babies alive was hard work.

One moth can lay 200-300 eggs. At least mine did!
