How many is too many?

My 3 month old cham Larry Jr. is a.....PIG. As many large crickets as I put in he eats them all. Usually about 12+ large crickets per day and at the most yesterday at 18. Ive had him for 2 weeks now and he is doing great...but seriously how many is too many?

He was captive bred at a reptile store owner so im 99.9% sure the age is accurate...compared to some of the pics ive seen he doesnt quite look 3 months old.

PS I have no camera to show pics

At 3 months they are still growing so it is ok for him to eat as many as he wants. He can eat 18 now but once he gets older you will have to watch how much he eats. Make sure you stick to a good dusting schedule to make sure he gets his calcium. DIdn't catch that large crickets were being used. Make sure they are the appropriate size (the space between the chameleons eyes is how big the crickets should be)

Also, you should try to break up his feedings if he's eating that many. Maybe 6-7 at a time. I'm pretty sure they only have so much digestion juices at one time. After about 6 months old, you should cut back his food so he doesn't grow so fast. That will help make his bones strong (as long as you're dusting with calcium) and help prevent MBD.

You are feeding large cickets to a 3 month old?
They are a little large for him.

I thought the same thing...the guy who sold it to me had been feeding them that size so ive been sticking to it.

I usually do about 6-8 at a time twice a day.

I have been dusting with repti-cal /w D3 for calcium and herpi-vide (spelling) for regular vitamins. I have also been gut loading the crickets with carrots and greens I also sprinkle the carrots and greens with the calcium supplement.

What is your actual dusting schedule?

to my knowledge calcium with D3 is not usually given daily

Yikes....I DO dust with repti-cal /d3 daily. Is there a better recommended daily supplement? From what I understood calcium was to be given daily and a regular vitaimin supplement weekly?

correct me if im wrong..thanks in advance
