How big is your chameleon and how big are the crickets? I'd feed him as much as he wants (mine used to eat 10-15 as a baby) so 20 sounds good. Oh, and that was with 1/4 inch crickets. How many crickets should i feed a baby veiled? Hes eating about 10 - 20 everyday. And if i were to feed silkworms, how many of those should i feed? Cause im only getting 25 for $7, and im sure they will eat over 25 in just two days.
Im going to start him on half inch crickets tommorow, hes about 4 and a half inches from head to vent. About 7 inches counting the tail. The space inbetween is eyes is just over 1/4, but under 1/2, i would suppose half inch crickets are fine? Maybe start with 3/8?For a 5month veiled cham,I will highly recommend eat as much as he need with the size of the cricket no bigger in between the width of his head now.
3/8 should be fine, just observed,if its easy for her,if not always go small to be sure, but I think ur cham can handle it,since 3/8 crickets are still soft unlike the adult crickets with hard legs. The space inbetween is eyes is just over 1/4, but under 1/2, i would suppose half inch crickets are fine? I have a question regarding this rule and how to measure the size of the insects, let's take crickets for example. Is it the width or the length of the cricket? And do you apply this same rule to other insects that tend to be ong and narrow such as meal worms, silk worms, horn worms, etc?
Unless you have scissors ...That's what I thought. Especially since it would be rare to find horn worms in length to be shorter than a cham's eye distance. Thanks.
