I don't have any experience with my chams getting bitten by crickets.
I feed my two male Veileds as much as they will eat. It seems Fred is slowing down right now and Jake is on a roll. Fred seems to like living with his food... But the crickets just stay in the upper corners of the cage and don't wonder around by Fred much.
I have had crickets eat through the screen I use on the cricket keeper (50-100+ crickets running around isn't cool! nor is the clean up!). So far none of the crickets have eaten through the screen used on the cages.
I use the cup and free roam methods of feeding. Lately I've been dumping them into a dish for both chams just to see who eats more and when and that sorta thing. If i notice all are eaten I dump a few into the cage for free roaming so that the boys have to hunt for their food.
