We I thought this warrented a thread. Its a beautiful day here in Sunny South Florida so I thought. I get a knock on my front door from my neighbor who said some kids just ran out of your back yard holding clear tubs. Well as one would say my heart dropped. I immediatly run outside to see someone standing there just staring at veileds. I flipped out grabbed the kid and immediatly started asking questions. His reply was i heard them back here and i came in the gate and they ran off. I apologized to the kid for using foul language and threatening him. So I immediatly started counting chameleons they destroyed cages and highend veileds are on the loose includung transluscents. So lets see im missing about 10 adults and about 75 babies. My heart is ...... well i dont know right now. im very upset not about all the money and hard work I just lost, but at the fact that those babies were only weeks old and are probrably gonna die. Very sad day here in our home. Thanks for letting me vent I have to help my wife rebuiled cages and cleanup.:(

REPORT THEM. Kids will not learn unless they are told they are wrong and deal with the consequences. I woulda held onto that kid and had him take me to his home and rat out his friends. They destroyed your property and let animals out into the wild. I would so beat my kids' butts (not literally, figuratively!!) if they did that and make them not only rebuild but spend days looking for your chams.. Im so sorry that some parents do not take the time to teach their kids respect!!
..When I was 12, I vandalized an abandoned trailer with spray paint. Everyone else did it too before and after me..but I got caught by my mom when she read my diary (stupid girls! LOL)..She reported me and I got community service and spend every saturday and sunday for the next 6 months cleaning up garbage.. It sucked since it was summer and so hot and all my friends were having fun.. But I learned. Most parents these days are oblivious to their children or just dont care enough. Maybe the parents need a wake up call to as to not only what kind of kids they have raised, but the parents they have become as well. I am so sorry for this..not fair to you or the chams!

Wow... This is disgusting! Some people have zero respect. I'm sorry to hear about this. Well... You know the great method for retrieving males... Put out some females in cages. I am willing to bet that a search and some signs will have most of them returned to you. The thread of Lombardis disappearance had a lot of good advice on how to search for missing chams. Don't give up, I bet a couple hours in your yard will yield a good amount of adults and a grip of babies back to their rightful homes. I would also be asking around the neighborhood as to who might of done this... Somebody should now something. Even if you encounter a potential suspect, just asking the question should show something in his reaction as to if he knows anything or not. Maybe there are some local members who would be willing to help you search the are today. I don't know.. this really blows. Best of Luck.

I just had a flashback to the movie Bad Santa, with Billy Bob just kicking the crap out of a 15 year old kid. Sigh... brought a smile to my face just now.

First off, don't resort to violence, if you know who did it * most likely neighbour hood children, assault on a minor is well Not in your favor.

the most you can do is find out who the parents are and have them served, and charges pressed for damages equivalent to what you lost.

i garuntee if you know who did it, and that kid you found agrees to ID Them. then their parents whoop there kids asses for costing him money..

legal action is the best you can hope for. otherwise you may have to bite the bullet on this one.

I agree. I would go door to door and let people know that if their kid randomly brings home a chameleon, it belongs to you and you would like it returned. They are not easy pets and will die without proper knowledge.

For once betty, thats not a bad idea (Changed >.>)

man, honestly if i caught those kids in my yard. id of probably pulled my gun on em. it might be time you invested in some padlocks on your gates.

and then take broken glass, *if you have a brick wall* some mortar, and line the top of your brick wall with the mortar, place broken glass shards sharp/pointed sides up.

as betty said, blanket the neighbour hood informing parents/home owners of what has happened.

you might just get the little SOB's ..after the parents turn em in *if they do* press legal charges*

man, I am really sorry to hear about that and I hope you get some kind of justice. I honestly can say that when I was younger I had no urge to go do that to other peoples' property. That is disgusting. You should definitely get that little kid that was in your yard and get him to point out the people who did it (offer a cash reward ;) ) what kid would turn down $100 bucks or so. And I would see $100 being well worth justice.

And then once you find out who did it you should proceed with legal charges on the parents and the kids. Also, make sure you file a police report soon. I know some of those kind of things have a time limit...

Good luck, and if you want to maybe find some of your males you should do what socalison was saying and put some females in cages out in the yard. It got lombardi back :D

This is sad to read about. When I lived in Florida we didn't even have a fenced yard, and even if i did I probably would't have locked it. I would think twice about it now. Kids are pretty damn disrespectful nowadays, and poor parenting sets the pace. I wish you the best in resolving this matter. I'm sure I don't need to advise you to up the security of you yard, as I'm sure you already have. Good luck.

For once betty, thats not a bad idea coming from you.

Perfect example of a back handed compliment. C'Mon man, arrogance makes the forum ugly. Everybody love Everybody!:)

Problem with legal action is he would possibly looking to spend more money taking that course than he lost in the first place.

I hope he hasn't responded because he's outside collecting Calyptratus like easter eggs.

That is just nauseating. I do not know how I could control myself.

I agree Malicious-many kids are just disrespectful-not enough parents knocking sense into them these days.

Veiled Guy-I hope you can recover some of them.

I agree. I wish I lived closer and I would come and help you look for them.

That would be a great idea if you want a lawsuit on your hands. You can't get away with stuff like that anymore, the general public is too sue happy.

Then again, dead people tell no tales.;)

Theft and vandalism is pretty big where I am from. I'm in a college town, and it seems like all the thieves etc come in and make huge runs where they will break into tons of cars in one windy night, or on holidays they will break into houses when noone is home.

I have had many friends have their houses broken into and I have had my car broken into. This kind of thing is horrible to go through because it feels like a slap to the face. And it is degrading. Luckily my house has never been broken into, but I attribute that to the fact that I have 2 dogs (a doberman and a great pyrenese/australian shepard mix) the doberman never barks at anything, but the gp mix is loud and if anyone comes near the house he lets them know.

Once again I wish you luck with taking care of this and I am really sorry.

@Malicious - you are so true on the fact that everyone is sue happy. I was in a car wreck a while back and I literally had 6 lawyers call me and ask to represent me in suing the other person for all they are worth. I just wanted my medical bills covered, but they insisted that I should sue for a quarter to half million for pain and suffering because I broke my back. It is CRAAZY

Sang are you Thinking? first you say...

First off, don't resort to violence, if you know who did it * most likely neighbour hood children, assault on a minor is well Not in your favor.

But then you say...

Thats not violent? Have a reality check!

I understand the anger and dissappointment, that really does 'blow' , and I agree the behaviour of kids today is mindblowing.
Recently an 11 yr old at a fair stomped on the head of a mans albino burmese killing it without provocation, and said 'I hate snakes'. The obnoxious brats father was standing nearby and merely said 'this is why i dont take you anywhere', and hustled the kid away.
The snakes owner who was educating kids was devestated as it hispersonal pet of 12 yrs.

In another case, a kid of 12 broke into wildlife park and proceeded to mutilate, bash to death and throw reptiles and animals into the pen of a large saltwater crocodile. A half hour rampage caught on CCTV cameras.

I wouldnt rate these kids quite as bad, but thats not the point. If I had done such things as a kid I wouldve been flogged with a razor strap till my backside bled, literally!

I hope you find some and can repair the damage and that it dosent set back your project/s too far. Might be time to get a largedog to scare the little bastards away.

i dont care what ppl think of me when i say this. i would pay a kid thats 17 to beat them up. like... beat them the **** up.

theyre horrible ppl.

who seriously hits their kids??? i dont think this guy lives in the hood?

wow....:( so sorry to hear this....Kids these days really are horrible...I think its becasue they are raised by the tv and their video games......:p

Hopefully you are able to find soem of your chams!! There have been quite a few post of lost chameleons that show up a few days later even with babies:D

I definetly aggree with people paying attention to what they post before they contradict themselves......

Im sorry to hear your loss :(

If i saw kids stealing anything from my house/car/etc I would have no qualms about throwing punches. I would risk jail time.

If i saw an adult break into my house or steal something from my car he would get shot. My state is "defend your home" state. I would prob go to jail for shooting someone breaking into my car, but my house. You might get shot by me and my wife since we both own handguns.

I have no tolerance for thieves.

I hope you catch em

Ok so I have alittle hope while cleaning and bulinding new cages. I spotted running grass and got two juvenile Trans chams back. IDK what I have lost dollar wise in chams but I know I just spent almost 3k with brandsmart for camera. WT* this isnt how I like spending my money. I would much rather give it to my wife to spend.
