right now i have my baby in a little cage its about 1ft by 1ft by 1.5ft. and ive been cleaning it out once a week bc he poops alot. is that too often ? i dont want to stress him out more than i have to.

Once every week and a half or so. I spot clean, the more I have my hands in the cage the more used to them my cham is!

I clean once a week
and deep clean once a month (take out the cage and hose it down, ect, ect)
I would pick up his poop every day.

I clean my cage every saturday (sometime Sunday depend on the weather)
when i clean my cage i also put all my Chame out for the sun ( around 2 hours) detail clean every month and half

I'm bad...I try to do a cage clean out once a week..I don't always succeed...I do pull any leaves I see with poop on them when I see them...

I don't do anything extreme on the cleaning...my cage bottom is open mesh with a plastic drawer below, so I empty the drawer daily, but I base my "clean up the bottom" on what is there to see...often there's not much. As noted, when I see poop on a plant leaf, I either clean the leaf or take the leaf out.

I clean once a month. But I use a big bird cage, with a wire bottom and a tray under that. So most of the poop falls to the bottom tray onto newspaper, so not in contact with the chameleon. And I cup feed mostly, so bugs never in contact with crap.

Clean a night when its asleep if you dont want to stress it. Just dont turn on too many lights and wake it up.

I spot clean daily with a week between search and destroy clean-ups. I find nite-times work best, right before the final spray and about an hour before lights out. But of course this is just based on my human schedule and not due to consciously optimized times.

What is the best way to clean the poop daily? When I come home from work it is usually dry.. I have read to cut the leaf but if I am constantly cutting leaves I will run out of leaves before too long!

I use a damp cloth and thouroughly. Lean the leaf unless its a weak looking leaf then I clip it off. I use a paper towel to pick up poopies at night and dry the bottome. and repot my plants and deep clean bi monthly. Setting ur plants up for extremely good drainage really helps

I also clean the floors of my adult chameleons maybe once a week, more often if I know I'm having company over. They don't eat every day so I don't get that much poop from my full grown chams. The baby transvaals do get cleaned more often because they do poop quite a bit, but it's still every few days.

The way my cages are the poop falls directly to the floor, so I just take out the bottom and scrub it out with hot water and dish soap. But I never take down the entire cage to clean it, it's just not feasible with my set-up. And I don't really have to, in my opinion.

I clean my cages everyday, the entire floor gets wiped down and I scrape off any poop stuck to a vine or leaf. It's alot of work but to keep my boys healthy I'll do it.

elizadolots, do you have any pictures of the bottom part of your cage where the drawer is? Im trying to make something like that to trap water.
