How often do you use D3?

I dont have my cham in the sun much so i give him repashy calcium plus every day (ive talked to breeders who have tested this out for 4 years before they even promoted it) so ive been doing just that and my cham is perfectly healthy. Everyone is like o nooo you have to do it once a month or blah blah blah, i personally think its ok with this product it has been been perfectly fine with me. anyone feel this way to? and if i dont have him in the sun hes not getting D3, and its daily needed vitamin so it makes sense to me.

I use the repashy product myself and i use it every other day (but thats becuase i feed every other day)

the only chams i dont use it on are my hatchlings.

theres alot of different opinions on this topic. here on the forum, many people feel that regular calcium should be used everyday and calcium with d3 and a multivitamin should be used on alternating weeks, once a week. other cham owners ive talked to locally have only used calcium with d3 in it everyday and a multivitam twice a month with success. i think there are many ways to go about it, you have to find what is going to be the best for your cham and make sure it has all the nutrition and vitamins it needs!

I personally think every day is too often for the calci plus but as already stated, it's one of those debatable subjects, plus the factors of what u feed and how u gutload should come into account. Again JMO.

I use the following schedule:

Komodo cricket dust (calcium only) at every feed.

Repashy calci plus twice a week (calcium with d3 and multi vit) but Simba is only getting artificial UVB and isn't getting any real sunshine with the weather being the way it is. In the summer, when he can hopefully get outside for some real UVB, I'll reduce this to once per week.

Preformed Vit a drop -1 x TINY drop from human grade vit a capsule twice a month on the back of 1 feeder.

I also gutload all feeders well.

Hope that helps

Isnt D3 fat soluble?
If so, then any excess would stay in the liver!? Is that right?
Sooooo, when you say too much D3, what do you mean? What is too much?

I thought the Repashy C+ only had a tiny trace of D3!!??

Maybe someone could post a list of all the vitamines and minerals a cham
of normal health and size actually requires w/o peeing (water soluble) or
fat storing (fat soluble) so much excess vitamine out??!!

Like, how many mg/100g, IU, mg/Kg, etc. of each nutrient!!??

Has any such scientific research ever been compiled for ANY cham species???!!!

If so, link please :)

i havent heard of doing a preformed Vit A drop before! thats interesting. does the repashy have vit A in it? i have reptivite powder for a multivitamin and it have vit a in it.

That is the schedule I follow. Regular calcium daily, use calcium with D3 every other week, Vitamin with D3 every other week. Miner-all once a month, Vitamin A on one or two crix once a month

yea see thats why i like the repahsy calcium plus it doesnt have an excess amount of vitamin D in it. and the sun gived trace amounts of vitamin D which the body needs to survive soooooo yes i think its ok. and my guy eats every other day but i spoke to Kammerflage kreations and they swear by repashy calcium plus so i mean if they are using it every day for their fucking awesome chameleons i think the rest of the world should to. It does have vitamin A as well, its seriously a blend of awesomeness lol i really reccomend it to everyone

i even tried to buy herptivite, minerall-o, and reapshy calcium and kammerflage instead told me just to buy the one repashy calcium plus. they didnt even try to get more money out of me, they just said this is what you need. so i trust them and anyone who says otherwise well i dont beliveve you :)

It's a mineral supplement called Sticky Tongue Miner-All Indoor formula for trace minerals etc

aahh thanks for the info! ill have to look that up. i use reptivite multivitamin, but im looking into other supplements to make sure im giving everything chams need!

That's cool. Like you I bought from a very reputable breeder. If we are following there patterns I think we're ok. I think over supplementation can be a serious problem. The "more is better" mentality is not a good game plan.

I do have a D3 question for those of you that keep your Chams outside. My Nosy Be Male will be getting probably about 20-30 hours a week outdoors when weather warms back up. Do those of you that keep Chams outdoors cut back on D3?

i personally didnt keep my guy outside, but i have an older friend who keeps hers outside during the summer and she cut way down on the D3 during that time. she only used it once a month or once every 6 weeks when she had her adult chams outside. then raised the D3 once they were inside again

My outlook is not "give more" what im saying is, this is an all in 1 nutrient that is healthy. its been tested and proven to work. so that is a pretty good outlook is it not?

But yes if you keep them outdoor cutback on D3 the sun gives out vitamin d so if your giving them alot of vitamin d in their food while they are already getting vitamin d from the sun thats when its a bad idea

3. Vitamin D causes calcification of bone. Excess Vitamin D causes inappropriate mineralization of organs such as the kidney or soft tissue. Excess Vit D3 and Calcium has been implicated in mineralization of large blood vessels, causing cardiac disease. 4. If we fry the kidneys with excess Vitamin D we cannot get the active form, 1,25 Dihydroxycholecalciferol. Of course, there are many other problems that come along with fried kidneys. 5. The body will only allow so much Hydroxycholecaliferol before the conversion of Vit D3 in the liver is stopped. What happens to the excess Vitamin D3? It is stored in the liver doing no good but potentially causing problems in the future. 6. If the Calcium-binding proteins remain in the cells for weeks after the 1,25 Dihydroxycholecalciferol is gone, why are we redosing two or three times a week
