How often should I change the paper towels on the bottom of my cage?

I use paper towels to line the bottom of my enclosure. They are great for keeping humidity, easy to clean, and I've heard they harbor less bacteria than substrate. I was wondering how often I should replace them. Does anyone else use paper towels on the bottom? Or is there a better approach that I can use

Thanks :),

I use paper towels at the bottom of Monty's viv. Currently, I change the paper towels every week as Jacksons need more misting than other chams. I find if I leave it any longer then it starts to yellow under the plant pots and around the edges. If you have a screen cage, you can make a hole in the middle of the plastic base and create a drainage system. You will need to raise the cage on something so you can place a deep tray underneath to catch the water.

I use paper towels also and I replace mine every 2-3 days. I too would like to see what everyone else uses.

I use nothing and I find it easy to wipe everything clean everyday and then I use a shallow tupperware bowl underneath where my dripper drips. I really don't mist my cages. I live in florida and the humidity in my house is like 50% without misting and running a dripper and the only times my chams spend time inside really is in the summer months when it is too hot. Other than that they are pretty much outside all day so they are misted there. I know everyone does not have that luxury and I know the mistings create alot of excess water.

If they poop on it, remove it right away. Otherwise every couple of days seems to be fairly standard. Mine get gross too fast so I only put one down where the animal like to poop for easy cleaning.

I use reptile carpet and change every few days and just throw it in the dryer. I don't like using paper towels or even newspaper as it turns to mush.
