How often should I have my cage misted (via mister)?

Alot of variables like what kind of mister how many heads ... depending on where you are located .... but most of the time for veilds its 3 to 4 times a day for about 1 to 3 min sessions i personally like switching it up every once in awhile. Theres never really a schedule for mother nature how ever after feedings is usually a good time as well

Disclaimer (this is in my opinion) have fun but yeah I mist 3 times a day for 2 minutes a time and use a 1/3 cup a minute spray smart nozzle. And he's doing both to bad. But granted I see him drink and eat every day till oil jumps and booms again . Two month growth and he seems A ok
Month old male veiled and he's a beast of a male and I mist 3 times a day 2 minutes at a time. He drinks in front of me eats in front of me but for God's sake if I try to grab him to take him to his outside cage he snaps and hisses the whole way (don't flinch) then they own you and not vise versa. The key is your the dominant species

A simple question, but not so simple of an answer is required.
1. The Montane species live in a moister environment than Panthers and Veiled chameleons, and will require more moisture.
2. Some chameleons need the water source to run many minutes before they drink; others start drinking immediately.
3. One of the most successful Parson's chameleon keepers found that fogging was better than misting or droplets.
I think you need to observe your chameleon like a Ninja Warrior, hiding/filming to see how long it takes for your chameleon to start drinking when the water source starts, and how long they drink before they choose to stop.

Wow he's amazing! I've had mine for about a couple months and he's not near that size and has only shed once (look at my profile picture. That was taken today). Is this a bad thing? He's about 4 months old.

I have a veiled and set his mister for 1 min. every 2 hours. Is this too much? I have a monsoon (I know, it's not a mistking but I'm not made of money).

Forgot to mention. It has two nozzles that spray towards the middle of my reptarium. The water falls on an umbrella plant that I have and drips onto the leaves under it. I also spray for about two minutes in the morning and before he goes to sleep

It's easier to spray to little than it is to spray to much...
Your enclosure should dry out between mistings to avoid molding.
I think I flush around 8 liters of water through my Jackson's enclosure a day, I would do more but humidity here is high already and my drainage bin would overflow.

I've been misting (spray bottle) 3-4 times a day. Just ordered a Mistking to take place of my manual misting, lol.

I have a Melleri so my misting schedule is going to be longer then yours. I mist 1 hour after lights come on in morning for 15 minutes, 15 minutes at 3PM, and 5 minutes @ 5. Lights off at 8 PM.
My enclosure has time to dry out between misting. This has worked well for me. I have a MistKing with 2 heads. I run about 10-15 gallons of water through the enclosure a week!

Personally,I think people overthink their watering.
If the humidity is not unusually low, which it should not be, in a properly ventilated and furnished enclosure, then watering multiple times a day is not needed. There are exceptions, such as the very young, ill, or WC animals, but misting for longer periods, less frequently is better, since it provides time for things to dry out, it keeps the animals looking forward to their next drink and increases the likelihood they will begin drinking, when the misting starts.
For a veiled chameleon, 10 mins 4 times a week is likely going to be adequate. I like to utilize sessions of 30 mins or longer, sometimes breaking it up, for example, the mister will most from 3-3:45, but I'll have it come on for 5 mins, go off for 2 mins, come on for 5, go off for 2....this increases the duration of moisture avialability, but cuts down on the volume of water used.
My parsons get 4 days a week at 30mins, and the other days are misted for 7 mins and the 7 min days are to wet the mounted plants, more than for watering the parsons. Parsons are known for their need of large amounts of water and they are doing perfectly well on this schedule.
My veiled gets misted for 3-5+mins, several times as week and has a dripper going. He is housed outdoors and also sees weekly rains, at least most weeks.
In short, go with longer sessions, once per day or even every other day or go for 5-10 min session every day, at the same time, so they are more likely to be available for drinking, because they will learn to anticipate the misting. White urates are a good indication you are keeping your chameleon hydrated.
