Hi, i just got my first sambava panther chameleon (3 months old) and i was wondering how often should i give it the calcium powder, and when i gut load do i gut load only the ones im going to feed to him or all of them

you do not give your chameleon the powder, you dust the feeders with the calcium. You will need 3 supplements. Calcium without d3 at every feeding, calcium with d3 twice a month or so and a multi vitamin to be used twice a month. That is the standard we use on the forum. Gutload all of them always.

Yep, get the three supplements Carol just recommended.
Some people take the time to separate out the feeders the chameleon will eat the next day and give those their excellent gutload, while the others for later will get basic food, like potatoes just to keep them alive. I've always gutloaded everything, though. But just giving you another option, if you want to take the extra time to separate feeders before hand and give them your best gutload, and not "waste" it on the others that won't be fed off just yet.

ok thank you, and yeah, i meant to say when do i put it on the feeders, thanks for the help

sorry, I guess it was the way you worded it! I have seen a few people on here before think you give the chameleon the calcium! Good luck with your new panther!! I have a Sambava too, he is really cool, but then again..they all are!!! And yes Olimpia gave you a great suggestion about putting aside the feeders you are going to feed and gutloading them seperately.

BTW..its recommended that the calcium be phos. free.

I gutload the insects and feed them the same things. Whey should we just keep them alive rather than keeping them alive and healthy??

I gutload ALL the bugs with DinoFuel. They all get alfalfa, marigold, spirulina, hemp seed, bee pollen, and tons of other goodies. I dust insects w/ calcium powders and herptive as recommended. When I dust insects, I just put the gutloaded insects in a bag, toss a small pinch of the calcium or vit. powder in and give them a shake. Then toss them in with the chameleon.
