4 months?! It very well could be, but it would be dangerously small for 4 months. Pet store do tend to do that, but still that's scary. I would say usual age for that size would be 5-8 weeks old? Somewheres in there?

I love this question:)
Unfortunately, unless you buy from a breeder....you will never know your chameleon's birthday.
I have seen 4 month olds that are half the size of yours and 2 month old babies that are bigger.
How old?
?????????????????
Less than a year for sure!:D

I like Brad's answer.........

I like Brad's responses.........After my first clutch of eggs hatched I found out how much chameleons can differ with regard to growth rates. You can take a group of siblings, have them in the same cage, eating the same food and end up with drastically different sized chameleons. In a sense it does not really matter how old this little guy really is. I think we can all agree that he is of an age and size where he needs to be pounding the food down!

Just for size comparison purposes, here are mine. the one in the front 6 1/2 weeks old. the one in the back 4 weeks old

Here is the one in the front 5 weeks later, he was 11 weeks old during this pic

Here is a picture of some that are 1 month old: I'm hoping its ignorance instead of deception. Both are bad.

Here's a picture of my veiled at 6 weeks old (from a breeder...I know his hatchdate) he's sitting on the tip of my index finger. Look at his size compared to my fingernail!!!
6 weeks is almost 2 months.....see....you just can't tell!

Does this in any way indicate the health of the baby? Is the very small six week old like is on your finger just as healthy as a six week old that is twice his size? What factors are involved in the vastly different sizes? Is it genetics, food intake, combination of both or nobody knows? I had no idea there could be such a huge gap in sizes. Thanks david

i think one side is his metabolic rate.
Just like some people can eat and eat and eat and not gain weight.
While there are others who just eat a bit, and immediately shows.

it's genetic and also the amount of nutrition, gutload, and etc etc.
