How reliable is the Sire?

Hi all. I was noticing that everyone that posts a baby chameleon, likes to show off pictures of the sire. What I was wondering is: How reliable is the sire in showing the colors that the offspring males could produce? Seems simple enough, but I know its not, so if you could help me out here, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!

Interesting topic there man. I was talking to somebody not to long ago that said that they got a baby who's sire was gorgeous, but the baby ended up not showing near the color his father did. Then he bred that baby, and it produced babies that were more beautiful than the original sire.

It makes me curious as well how the offspring compare to the sire, especially if the sire has "amazing" color. What are the chances that the baby will highly resemble the sire? I don't know. Maybe others will weigh in.

Its something Ive been wondering about for a while. Especially with the panthers, as I may be getting a baby soon and I wanted to know what to look for in a sire. I have seen it both ways, the sire is spectacular and the grown out babies arent, as well as the babies being beautiful from an almost drab sire. Curious to see how this turns out...

good topic man. I'm interested to see what some of the experienced breeders have to say. I actually just bought a panther that I will be receiving soon, and I have high hopes that it will look like the sire. I have no idea what those chances will be.

Dont forget that half the equation is the heritage of the female. What the parents bring is an indicator, not a guarantee, of what the offspring will look like.

Thats about what I expected to get as far as answers go :). Does anyone have Sire-grown offspring comparison shots?

Thanks again.
