Hellooooo i am just wondering if i can get some tips on how to pick my chameleon up.

I have a Blue Bar Ambilobe Panther Chameleon.

I'm not too sure how old he is but im going to say hes like 2-3 months old, i want to get him started and he has been with me since Saturday, and i want to clean his terrarium. He Isn't flaring up when I put my hand near him as often anymore.

Just saying I don't try to annoy him, i just need to get past him to spray the water on his leaves. I was just wondering the best way to handle him and get him used to me so i can clean his cage and show him off for a few minutes so i can put him back in his cage.

I also heard that It is good to get a chameleon supervised exercise for about 30 minutes or something a day. Is that true. I dont wanna try anything before i consult others.

OH 1 MORE QUESTION. If my chameleon bites me. What should i do.

Dont hold him its two soon. It will stress him out. Just spot clean the cage for a few weeks.

Then when its time to pick him up, hold your hand in front of him and push it underneath (ideally let him crawl to your hand).

Do NOT pick him up or grab him from his back EVER. This will severely stress him and they remember that. I once again will emphasize waiting, they need a few weeks to get used to there new home and you.

I made the mistake of taking mine out the second day for pics for sexing and age, the result he didn't eat for over a week. I am telling you dont do it :).

With my little guy, I put a mealworm or feeder that won't get away in my hand and bring it close to him. I did that for a few days and now he associates my hand with food and he will climb on to my hand with no problem.

Hope that might help!!

did your chameleon survive after not eating for a week?

Stay calm as much as u can be,they dont usually bite, unless they feel threatened by u.

If he bites me, will he bite and let go, bite and hang on, should i pull him off my hand if he bites me, should i back away slowly if he bites and lets go?

The problem is not how hard he bites, its ur finger,be like a man if he does bite, dont try to pull away, that will only damage his mouth if u pull it to quick, once the young cham learns that ur finger its not a food source,he will let go on his own, after he let go his mouth, then u can pick him up with the finger he try to bite, act like you are the king kong and look at him in his two eyes, and say "NO MEANS NO" then released him back to his baby cage!
