how to force feed a veiled chameleon

i've tyed putting food into his mouth - he just sits there holding it, then lets it go, he's just too weak to chew for his self at the moment, so i have no other choice but to use mashed up food & a syringe

but i am very gratful for all the help i am getting from this forum - so ALL surgesions are very welcomed

You tried so hard! Please don't let it discourage you from getting another cham. You have all the right information now and will be able to care for another little friend well. Maybe one of the UK folks will know where to get a healthy cham. It is hard to bring a sick animal back to health, especially when you don't know what is wrong. My heart goes out to you.

i have found a breder here in the uk & have been emailing him & am hoping to go & see him in the new year, to bring home a new cam - they have just hatched!

There is another problem with glass cage, since it is a male he is prosible reflecting him selft and that causes a lot of strees and he will not feed, take out the glass and change it.

Omg too bad to hear he died, read before buying another one.

it was helpful for me to post pictures of my setup in the enclosure section before I got my cham so I could make sure everything was ready. Had to make a few changes but haven't had any problems over the last few months I've had my cham. It might be useful to post befpore and after pictures for the new peeps that are thinking of getting a cham can see what you've done.
I need a new camera myself or I'd have done that!

my veiled cham is also keeping eyes closed but is alert and changes coulor if stimulated. he hasn't eaten in few days and is loosing weight regularly. I shower him often and his eyes look clean although he remains letargic and does not move. He is not interested in small-head crickets recommended by the breeder from a previous fruitfly diet. The Cham is just over 4 weeks old.

I am going to try the force feed as indicated in this forum.

As added info the pet travelled few hundred kilos to an area that is warm and humid in South Africa called Natal. This region is known to be prevalent with this kind of animal.

My cage is net type, only UVB 1 x 5.0 fluorescent type. no other aids as temp is ok. Calcium 2twice a week.

Sorry that your little guy is not well. Your UVB bulb, is it the coil type? They cause eye problems. I would recommend the tube style bulb. You need to start your own thread about this so that others can help you....not many members will see it here.
