How to get my baby chameleon to eat

I have a baby chameleon (not too sure about the species) which I'm struggling to know how get him to eat. Í've been given pin head crickets which then proofed to be too small so I bought small crickets. The crickets seem to hide in the grass in his house, and therefor he can't get them. Can I squash them a bit in order for him to eat them from the leaves?
I'm still very new to this

He is light brown to light green normally, only about 9 or so weeks old, slightly bigger head with a smooth type of skin. Don't really know how to discribe better. I'll take a picture of the little fellow just now and put it on

I think you should get rid of the grass in the terrarium. No need to use it.

If you upload an image you can post the link here so we can see the animal.

ok, grass can go, what can I put in the bottom for him so he doesn't slide around when he try to walk? And then still the eating is worrying me a bit as I don't know to cup feed or hand feed the little man

Don't use any substrate at all. You dont need any. It'll only grow bacteria and fungus and makes it harder to clean.

You can try both (Hand and cupfeeding) but I think cupfeeding is the best step to start with.

ok, I'll redo the cage tomorrow and see if that will improve the eating as well

Just an update on the feeding today, had a great time with him, took out the grass as recommended. Had such a laugh as he was struggling to walk on the glas, silly thing likes to go down his tree and walk around on the bottom. I went to the pet shop that has a big section on reptiles, and asked him what I can put in the bottom to prevent him from sliding around, he recommended that I put a thin layer of cat litter sand as it will also absorb any moist. Hahahha followed his instruction, the little man came down, tried to chomp a cricket and ended up having to be saved by me from the little rocks stuck to his mouth. Ok, back to the pet shop and told the guy that he gave me crappy advise. Ended up putting just a very fine sement like paper under in his tank. Mr Jingles happily trotted everywhere where he wanted to go and I actually got to see him chomp 3 more crickets. Happy cham and happy mom lol. Oh and I also got him slightly bigger crickets. Tummy full he went back up his tree and is now in dreamland for the night

I had trouble with Oscar being wobbly at the bottom too, I got the reptile carpets that you find in petstores and cut two to fit his enclosure. As long as you change it often enough it works like a charm, bugs can't hide and he can hunt without sliding, there's also no risk of him ingesting anything harmful

We really need to know what species it is so we can give you proper husbandry. Not all of them have the same husbandry. Upload the pic to a site like photobucket.com then copy the IMG link and paste it on here. It kind of does look like a panther chameleon but not being 100% sure will only lead to problems.
