how to remove hind legs from crickets

Maybe someone posted this idea but if not this is how I remove hind legs from Crix so they don't escape from the feeding cups.
First with my large tweezers I grab one cricket from any leg and most of the time he will disengage its leg to get away. Then u grab the other leg with the tweezers and it should do the same but if it doesn't u gently push the grabbed leg without squishing the cricket,
Against the side of the cup and turn inwards towards the cricket and it will disengage.
Now u put him in the cup and baaam there u have it a hindless legless cricket that can't escape ur feeding cup. After some practice u will be good at it.
I use to do it by hand but when I pull the guts usually accompany the leg.
I hope this helps somebody .

I do the same thing with grasshoppers. Altough I sometimes keep the top part of leg on. I look at it as a drumstick for chameleons.

AHHH cricket tourture!! :p I'm pretty sure everyone has either tried it, does it or thought about it.

Yes u can feed them grasshoppers they have to be raised by u or a breeder. It's not good to feed them wild caught due to diseases . I've fed my wild caught but I caught them away from the city like in Ramona a rural San diego area and small grasshoppers only not old large ones. I haven't done it lately due to concerns of diseases also.

I see you've decided to post ;) good info, but for me sounds too cruel, maybe I need to grow up to it ;)

I have always removed the jumping legs from crickets and locusts. For me it has two functions - stopping the food from escaping the feeding cup, and two, it was the only way I could cope with them when I got my first chameleon! The barbs on the back legs of large locusts are so evil looking!

Back Legs

I simply squeeze their back legs really hard and the crickets pop them right off for me haha. It makes it 100x easier for the chameleon to eat, doesn't have to deal with the barbs on the cricket legs and they'll never escape from the feeder cup! :D
