Hey guys.
How do I get better prices on shipping chameleons? I have tryed a shipping provider that ships reptiles and just me using FedEx . And its always $75 to $91 for one chameleon.
If you all know any tricks or tips that would help.

I had no idea it cost that much, I always pick up mine
It will be interesting to see if anyone has another option, cause I think I am on the hunt for # 5

yikes!

Do what I did...become an approved shipper of live animals thru FedEx...its easy ...once they test your boxes and your method of shipping , you get the OK...boom your in!!! you'll get an account number print your own shipping labels at a modest discount...also when you first get started with them they'll give you a rep to guide you thru the process...

Awesome that sounds like something I need to look in to.... Thank you

Also..not sure what shipping time frame you prefer...but shipping FedEx same day or next day air early will cost major$$$$ if you use next day air your animal will arrive on average by 10 or 11 am the next day...and that's dropping it off mid to late afternoon for your next day delivery....

well working for ups im gonna help the best i can and i deal with fedex alot too. most people with reptile business i know have an account with the shipping services so they pay less for what a normal person would do walking into any shipping store. some make you pay the total cost that they charge for shipping and some also have a surcharge. also know the size of the box has alot to do with shipping and you are also paying an air fair for next day delivery. the most expensive prices are always the early am like 8 or sooner. id say go with 10 or noon delivery. also the distance has alot to do with the prices too. the farther the location the higher the price. so when and if you get well established and can get an account through one you will always pay somewhat high prices for shipping. any more info ask and i'll help the best i can. this is part one part two will be under this

part 2 for shipping chameleons. I know it pisses people off when they see the delivery guy tossing the packages and holding it by its side under their arms. the best you can do about this is put in a complaint for the drivers doing the delivery. also know they package is going to be tossed around by machines and sometime get slammed on by other packages almost weighing well over 100 pounds at time. once they leave their location and on to your place they all go to stops and get seperated by machines. they will get slammed around dropping from 3-4 feet going all over the conviers to where the go for their next flight. so a good breeder knows all about this and thats why it is well packed so don't freak out to hard if it survived to your house alive just be thank full id didn't see all that it went through to get there. when i talk to my drivers i get them tips to hold it up right where the arrows point so it will leave a less angry customer getting their packages. and also most people that work in the shipping business that see that sign that says perishable or fragile are going to be rough with it on purpose. and one more last thing those packages go through crazy temp drops and highs so know when to cold pack and heat pack. thats why i say if your from the east coast go with an east coast breeder if your from the west go with a west coast breeder if your in central go with a texas ranger breeder. texas ranger man i expect a discount on a future nosey faly or ambanja for putting your name in this post!!! god bless and be well

Have you tried the USPS Express Mail? I have a friend who has a chicken farm - small farm I should say - and he uses this service constantly to send from eggs to adult hens/roosters and has not mention any problems of delays or DOA. I think you ought to give it a try.

I knew there was a really good reason why I leave soda cans and water bottles in the mailbox for my postman. Or perhaps answer the door in a little nightgown....oh yes mr. fedex...please don't shake the crap out of my lovely crickets and horn worms...love you long time....
