how would i know that my cham is about to or wanting to lay her eggs? is there any signs i should look out for? i have provided a large container with damp sand in it, but she hasnt been interested in it since i put it in there! and she looks like she could be needing it any day now.

Is she still eating?
Usually they will quit eating a couple days before they start to dig.
While she is still eating, make sure you are feeding her well with lots of calcium supplementation.

Not that i am looking into breeding yet but when you say lots of calcium how much do you mean?should the feeders look like ghost or just the same amount on the feeder with more of them getting dusted?

I actually make them look like ghosts with calcium (no D3) during and after egg production periods.

You could also check with the vet about getting liquid calcium. I supplement with this as Brad said before and after they lay in addition to dusting.

She was mated, and today she has got lots of green and yellow spots! hopefully she should know what to do, this will be the first time for her and me! lol

Best you can do is to observe her.
Give her extra calcium and plenty of food, because she must have extra to make the eggs.
Give her some rest, do not disturbe her when she is eating or digging.
One week before she gone lay the eggs she will stop eating.

Kind regards,
Tom
