Huge outdoor enclosure

Japanese maples are pricey, at decent sizes anyhow, but they are great trees for smaller species. The leaves can be used in gutload like hibiscus as well. I think pothos would do fine, just make sure they get enough water, and arent in direct sun too long like pssh said. Mine got huge, and did very well outside. Palms did well also, and are good for making a visual/wind barrier.

What Id really like to hit on is that youll want to create a barrier so things cant burrow up into the GOC though. You stand to lose alot of control when going from a sealed indoor box, to a planted in the ground outdoor enclosure. (not that thats something you dont already know) Its the lack of control that makes it different, and you have to find ways to recoup some of that control.

I wouldnt recommend doing what I did, and digging a huge hole, and lining it, then putting in controlled soil and plants, with caging on top. I think it would be better to have small areas were trees can come up in natural ground, and covering the exposed areas around the trunks with some sort of tight mesh/metal grating maybe, with screen on top.

Just make sure everything is as sealed and controllable as possible, thats the main lesson I learned when keeping in planted outdoor enclosures.

Tarps/shade cloths are necessary/very useful as AJ mentioned.

Design layout would be important I would think, youd want to be able to get to all the animals if you needed to.

Dont look at your banking account too often...it may cause depression...

It has begun!!! Im excited, but since its such a HUGE cage, its gonna cost alot of $$, so Im gonna have to do it as I can afford it:)
It measures 12' x 8' x 8'. Id like some recommendations on screening that wont put me in debt lol.

When they are done though they are some of the best enclosures you could keep your chameleons in. Looks great! However Paul your going to lose your Bradypodions in there if you keep them in that giant cage though.
