i want to buy one for my chams in order to keep their humidity perfect instead of sorta perfect. i was think of a cheapish one(20-30$) anyone use one? what type should i get? how do they work? thanks for any imput ^^

I would use a cool mist ultrasonic humidifier. You can usually find them for under $40. There are cheaper humidifiers that blow air over an absorbent filter that sits in a tray of water, but they don't really put out humidity very fast and won't humidify much over 50%. I use 2 ultrasonic humidifiers in my chameleons room to keep the humidity high in the whole room and they work great. I've also heard of people modifying them to pump the fog directly in the cage.

I have the Crane teardrop model, which works beautifully, and I hooked up PVC piping directly to the nozzle and up to two cages so the fog goes right into the back of the cages directly. My boys like to sit in the fog when it's warm and I've noticed they shed much faster since adding their humidifier. I have it on a timer so it comes on for 30 minutes every hour or so during the day. They like it!

I picked up a cool mist humidifier from walmart for 30 and it has no filter so its alot easier to clean. It was in the baby section btw lol.

hmm. yeah i was reading about the teardrop. looks awsome but it says cleaning is super importent to its function. i really dont want to add more to my to-do list daily. i guess i'll keep looking.

What degree of cleaning does it say? I wash mine out with dilute bleach and let it dry overnight once a month and that's it. Haven't done anything more than that, for better or worse. I've had it a year and it looks and acts brand new.

lol well actually what I was trying to say is that the one that I have does not have a filter and its way easy to clean. I clean my humidifier once a week with vinegar. Its nothing difficult to do and then once a month I will clean it out with some bleach. The ones with a filter I would say are just harder to deal with because of the filter. The fogger that they sell at petstores do just the same thing just that they don't blow cool mist and if you don't use distilled water I've heard that they mess up after a few months.
