humidity and temperature help!!!!!

i have two problems: the room where my veiled chameleons enclosure is is the hottest room of the house, and because of that there is a fan going in there at all times. this means my enclosure is at 74 degrees at night right now, and also that i cannot keep my humidity above 60% at night. i’m cursed in the sense that this is the literal only spot for the enclosure to go.
it’s a reptibreeze mesh cage, i have three sides covered in shower curtain that is taped down and several live plants. i have a mistking mister, but he HATES it. i was finally seeing improvements in the humidity and got it to almost 80% by misting for 7 minutes every 2 hours, but it was disrupting his sleep.

the other problem is he is currently insisting on sleeping on the ceiling of the enclosure. he was fine and chilling in his plants until his lights went off tonight and he is now staying on the ceiling no matter what we try and do. the second time the mister went off tonight it scared him and he fell. he caught himself on a plant but it was very very scary and i turned off the misting for the night and just kept it to the before lights on and after lights off misting.

how am i supposed to keep the humidity up in this situation?? i originally thought a fogger was the solution but was told that its not safe to run a fogger with temperatures that high.

i’m desperate for solutions to this, i want to get him in ideal ranges asap, any help is greatly appreciated.

Hey there. Welcome to the forum.
It is not safe to have high humidity period if your temps are hot and air is stagnant. You create an environment of hot moist air that can cause them to develop a respiratory infection. This not only includes fogging but heavy non stop misting.

Note higher humidity at night is another form of hydration. It is not a have to do method of hydration. If your ambient house temp does not allow for it then you simply do not add that to the routine. A veiled does really well in 30-50% max humidity levels for daytime. So as long as you implement other hydration methods your good.

Misting every 2 hours for 7 minutes is going to cause major issues if the cage is not set up to handle that kind of moisture load. Not only do you have to make sure you have good drainage but if your plants are not water tolerant you will kill them off. Secondly chams do not like to be soaking wet like that. THen you have the next issue if the cham is shedding you have now made it that much harder for it to come off. They are dry shedders so when you add water it sticks really bad. I would stop doing this. You want a 2-4 minute misting in the morning about 15 minutes after your lights come on and then another one about 2 hours before your lights kick off. The length is going to depend on your ambient humidity levels. If high humidity in the room you reduce your misting length. Then you add a dripper during the day.

Per the room temp... Close down any vents in the room. Make sure the cage is away from vents. You are looking for ambient daytime temps 70-75. So you are in that ballpark now. If it gets hotter than that then you need to make the adjustments to vents/thermostats.

I looked at your other thread and your cage set up looks good. Just make sure there are branches in between all the plants throughout the cage. So the fact that he is still sleeping on the top screen is a sign that he does not feel secure yet. The only thing about your set up is it has to be moved away from the window. This is going to mess with your ambient temps quite a bit. Colder or hotter depending on the season and level of sun.

yeah i turned off the 7 minute mistings after the first time it went off, i realized it was not going to work :/ thank you for your advice, ill add more branches asap and work on moving it away from the window
