Humidity gauges....

Hi all, I am wondering what humidity gauges are the best and where you place them in the enclosure?? I have a analog zoomed about 12 inches from the top in the back of the cage with about an inch in between the cage and the wall. I also have a Lowes temp and humidity gauge half way up attached to my Ficus that has the lower branches trimmed ( no leaves belowit) to make it like a real tree for my guy. Not sure if it is that accurate.

What do you use and how do you guys mount yours????

I have a zoo med that is attached to the back of the cage about 2 inches from the top. I guess because he hangs out on the top most of the time I want to see what the humidity is towards the top of the cage. I dont know if that is wrong or right, but that is just what I do!

Check out your local Lowe's and go to the garden area... you'll find a good indoor/outdoor digital temp and humidity gauge for $14.

I use the lowes temp/humidity guage with the probe. I tie the line for the probe onto the main branch in the basking spot and leave the LCD unit outside on the front of the cage on a small screw. I will occasionaly move the probe down into the lower areas for a quick check of humdity but it stays on the main branch most of the time.

Are you concerned about the relative humidity or the temp mostly? I have adjusted my light accordingly based on the temp reading for the basking spot for over a year and a half and have had no issues. Same with misting schedule based on the humidity. I thnk those $12 -$14 units work pretty well. JMO

Not sure, I have one in my other cage and it works great. The one in the other cage sometimes does not change when I have hand misted the cage. It has a mistking and the other gauge is reading a lot higher than the digital.

I highly recommend the DIGITAL hygrometers made be Exo-Terra they do a really good job and claim to be pretty accurate. I have never had any issues.
