Humidity Questions from a Beginner

What does everyone use to keep up humidity? I've been looking around and have seen many mixed reviews. Also, what should I do if I'm gone 8+ hours a day? Would a dripper do? If so, which one is best? Thanks!

A dripper won't raise the cage humidity much at all by itself. Cage humidity is affected more by the amount of live plants you have in the cage, how much open mesh or screen surface the cage has, your basking light power, the temps and humidity level in the room, the current weather where you live and what sort of heating/AC you use in the house, how you offer the cham drinking water, etc.

There are several ways to raise humidity including:

Adding live plants or bigger live plants in larger pots (more moist soil=more humidity). Clay pots absorb and release moisture better than plastic ones do. Clay pots also dry out faster which helps keep your plants from rotting.
Hand spraying more often and for a longer time each session.
Using an auto mister set to mist periodically throughout the day while you are gone.
Using a cool mist type room humidifier cycling on and off throughout the day while you are gone. This can help stabilize the humidity drop between misting sessions without flooding the cage.
Putting plastic sheeting on the sides and/or back of the cage to help slow down the evaporation rate and holding more water droplets longer.

Also make sure you are using an accurate humidity gauge. The cheaper analog types sold by most pet shops are not very reliable and can seriously mislead you.

I recommend a combination of live plants, little/big dripper and humidifier. That is what I use and it works great! You of course want to mist your cage at a minimum of 2 times a day. The humidifier helps to stabalize humidity while I'm at work all day. People also suggest automated misting systems.
