Humidity

hey guys.....

i have noticed trevor has gone back to his dark colours again over the hast 2-3 weeks. i think he is going to shed again which probably isn't helping.

i have also noticed that the humidity is not what it was for some reason. it drops as low as 25% on the meter and only gets to about 50-60% when misted.Could this be causing him to be unhappy?

This humidity sounds pretty good for winter time IMO. It's good for it to elevate and then go down. How long is it staying in the 50-60 range? I try to get mine to hit 60 before I stop misting. Once it hits 60 and I stop, it usually climbs another 10 and hits 70.

Not very long really. It might stay there for 15mins. 2 sheds ago he looked amazing but not been looking like he did since really. He eats etc but I'm sure there is something bugging him

They drop to 68-70, I'm just thinking it might be the mister. Is it possible to get a humidifier and big dropper combo instead of mister and dropper?

It actually needs to drop even more then that. At least 65. And that's if your ambient is 75. Could be the mister. I don't know if there is a combo type deal out there or not. I run my dropped all day long until bedtime

You can get a ultrasonic cool mist humidifier if your worried about it. You can run it from time to time through out the day, and it will help with the humidity and also helps if you are running heat in the house.

our house stays warm most of the time and the heating doesn't come on until the morning and early evening but is off all night and all day. i see a lot of peoples chameleons and they all look so colourful and happy but there is something still bugging him I'm sure.....

Is he drinking more? Is he constipated or pooping a lot less often? Are his urates turning orange and are they harder? These are signs of dehydration, in addition to a sunken casque, irritated eyes, difficulty shedding and skin tenting (if you take a pinch of skin gently between fingers and release it the skin stays folded for a few moments instead of flattening out right away).

An ultrasonic room humidifier can help keep your humidity level higher between misting cycles without flooding the cage. You could aim one at the cage and cycle it on and off between your mister cycles. During a cold winter, even if the heat isn't running all the time, the air does tend to be drier.

He might be molding and getting ready to shed. Most of my chams turn darker like that before they shed. I would freak out and the next day a full shed. How long have this been going for?

Think he might be due a shed but he has been like it for a good few weeks now. He was like it for months before 2 sheds ago and now back to the first picture. He has never been a massive eater. He only eats like 1 adult locust ever 2-3 days with Mario worms mixed in. his last poo was white and seemed normal. I mist for 10 mins now with warm water and I normally see him drinking for a good couple of mins most mornings
