hey,

ive set up my enclosure and am going to pick up my Chameleon in the next hour or so. i dont have a spray thingy but will pick 1 up in the reptile shop.

anyway, my humidity is only 11%, ive put a dripper on the top but is there any other way increase the humidity before i leave to go him up

thanks:)

you can put a showercurtain around 3 sides of yr cage n that helps keep the humidity up. plants are good to keep humidity up to and just spray the heck out of yr cage

Just do a search. There are so many other threads on this same problem. Many solutions. Jus dona quick search and you will get plenty of ideas

I use a room humidifier when its a dry season and likebalready mentioned real plantsbandshower curtain or garbage bags congrats on your new guy!:):)

ok, so i now have a real plant but still cant keep the humidity up, the Cham dosent seem to be to bothered and seems hapy but im still worried

A screen enclosure in the UK/Europe tends to dry out too quickly. If it is screen, try covering three sides as already mentioned. Covering only three sides will not compromise any ventilation/air flow that you think the chameleon might need.

where is your hydrometer located if it is near a side move it more to the middle and take another reading c if that helps

what is best to cover the sides with, i have some plastic plants hanging down at the moment, or do u mean something else.

@Franticurchin, cheers pal ill try that

Most people use a shower curtain. Just pick up a cheap curtain and hang it on three sides of the cage. It helps prevent the cage from drying out too fast.

i used plexi glass on two sides and an exo terra background in the back it worked great i had close to the same readings and now it never drops below 40% but the plexi glass wont give a reflection due to the screen and the more expensive non reflective plexi glass and if you wanted you could use it on all sides but the front and top

nice 1

ive got exo terra on the back and will try a curtain. and pick some plexi glass up if it dont work

thanks again

i have moved my chameleons into a bdrm of their own and i keep the door closed(i just got a new kitten ),i have all screened cages and the humidity now stays in the 80 % + range,im super happy about this as i was having issues before.if you can get a mister such as a mistking or monsoon that would help you considerably..

Make sure to change out the soil to organic and wash your plant down with soap and water three times. You don't want your chameleon drinking pesticides off of the leaves and you want to change the soil because some chameleons will eat the soil on purpose or on accident when they grab an insect from the soil.
