Humidity

I have a cage that is 3 feet high which I am housing a 5 month old panther in. My humidity level is 65% at the bottom of the cage and 45-50% at the top. Is this ok? Should I focus more on the bottom or the top of the cage when it comes to humidity?

I mist about 4 times a day also have a fogger running and a habba mist ( which sucks) that I have going off every 3 hours for 30 seconds. Any help would be great.

Also I just bought a mist king which I plan on hooking up tonight and getting rid of the habba mist. Any idea how often I should have the mist king running and for how long?
Thanks

I would try to get the humidty in the top up more if possible as this is where ou cham is spending most of it's day. Aim for about 70% for a panther

I had the problem with humidity as well. could raise it over 35%

I covered two sides of my screened enclosure with a clear vinyly shower curtain (still have two sides open plus the top). I added two more live plants as I only one ficus in a 4' x 2' x 31" cage. Then I made a small platform with leftover plywood on the top of the enclosure, only covering a small area, and set a cool mist humidifier on top. The humidifier rains down from the top of the cage rather then through a tube on the side of the cage because that really scared the crap out of him. My humidity improved, while still not reaching 50% at the top of the cage it averages around 43-45% and in the middle in between all the plants is at 53%.

I'm getting my new mister in today, I plan to have that set on time intervals and have the humidifier run on auto mode with my EcoZone controller. It will read the RH every minute and if the humidity is lower then 50% it will run for a set duration of my liking. But, if you havent done so already, try the tips I listed above, it didnt fully fix my humidity, but it increased it

Thanks a lot. Very detailed. I dont want to do too much to my 65 gallon cage as I plan to move him to my 30x30X48 within a couple months. The 175 gallon has real plants growing which I know will help with humidity. As for my 65 gallon I will add the clear shower curtain and also use the better mister.

What kind of mister are you getting?

I purchased the AquaZamp, just the standard bunch with one nozzle and Kevin was kind enough to add a second nozzle at 1/2 price. most on here would suggest MistKing or AquaZamp. To me, there isn't much difference in equipment, set-up, etc. I liked the Made in USA tag to be honest, the certified parts, and the option to add a Rain Dome.

Is your cage all screened? What kind of plants are growing in the 175 gallon tank? Have you checked them with the recommended safe plant list on here?

LOL i went with the mist king for the made in canada so i hear ya.

Yes the cage is all screened. I have a schefflera umbrella tree about 3 feet tall right now, Devils Ivy, and a small hibiscus. I hooked up the mist king today and boy does that work well. Much better then the habba mist. since i hooked it up the humidity has not gone below 60%. Hope yours works out for you.
