Hunger strike in K.W. area

Hey guys, we have tried a lot of different types of bugs for our little guy, but he refuses to eat anything other than crickets, superworms, and a few butters every few months. He is quite bothered by the presence of hornworms (even the small ones), and we can't seem to get our hands on anything else (silkies are not available right now and he is iffy about them anyway...just check the all of the chow we have in our freezer :/ )

Even though they are illegal, does anyone know where I can get my hands on some dubias??/ or can anyone suggest where we can locate some bugs in the area. We have a car, so driving (ie: to the gta) would not be an issue if someone could help us out.

Hope that everyone is having a great day!!
Thanks for the help in advance.

Variety is good but if he is eating 2-3 different staple insects you are fine and there is no need to worry. The biggest thing to concern yourself with is providing a well balanced gutload for the insects he will eat. Chameleons can and do survive very well on crickets alone and although it is better to offer variety it will be fine with just what you have mentioned.

Look in the classifieds! I'm selling butterflies, and flies, and I may be able to send some small silkies next week.

Thanks for the tip hun73r, we know all too well about gutloading. We are just trying to spoil the little man because he likes variety and knows to hold out until he gets what he wants.

Thanks for the reference to the classified pssh, I had not thought of that, but seeing as we are in Canada, I don't think that it would be possible for us to recieve anything due to laws. :( Good luck with the bug venture!!

I private messaged you. let me know if you didnt get it as sometimes messages sent from my cell phone dont go through.

(silkies are not available right now and he is iffy about them anyway...just check the all of the chow we have in our freezer :/ )

I just got 100 large silks in.
Going to figure out how many I go through weekly so that I'll always have some.

As far as your dubia question, your best bet for those is using www.reptilescanada.com and using the feeder area there. There's usually someone with some (I know someone was unloading their colony last weekend, dunno if he still has any).

Good luck.

hey! i didnt know there was onother forum member in kitchener, i just got some silkies yesterday from petsmart at farview if u wanna get some.

Thanks Psi, I grew up in Streetsville so I can't wait to visit your store/the ol' stomping grounds for some bugs! Thanks for the tips on silkies guys! A few weeks ago we got butters at that Petsmart!! They have a better bug selection than most stores around here, although I always feel so guilty after. :(
