Hunger strike

My cham has seemed to ignore his food the past 3 days. I've tried to mix things up and introduce different feeders. But so far there has been no success. Normally he goes straight for the dubias, but today he ignored them. The weather has been inconsistent lately and has made it hard to keep consistent temps. Today his basking spot was 85*f and cool temps were 77*f. He has been behaving normally and looks okay except for the ignoring his food part. Hopefully he will be hungry enough to eat tomorrow.

I just thought of something to ask. Do adult veilds tend to eat less when fall approaches? Maybe this is what is happening to my cham. Has anyone experienced a decrease in feeding during the winter months?

My 10 month old male veiled has been slowing down quite a bit lately. Of course I worry, but he is still active. He is also picky, and has been ignoring crickets for weeks.

mine to is eating less. im not sure but ive only seen him eat 2 crickets yesterday. he could have eaten more but im unsure. he has also eaten more leaves than he normally does. another thing is that i moved him on saturday into a bigger cage. do you think that could be it?

All of mine are slowing way down even the juveniles!! They seem to do this at this same time every year!!

Mine is "fasting" also.

An interesting and very abstract thought?

Chameleons (veiled, at least) come from Saudi Arabia, right?

It's the Islamic month of Ramadhan, when Muslims fast. (My fiancee is Muslim.) This happens right around September every year.

Maybe it's a habit they picked up from watching all the people fast for a month in the Fall in their native country.

*The Boy was the one who came up with this idea, and (since he's fasting all day) seems to be coming up with a LOT of wacky ideas lately, so you can excuse it. :p
