Chameleon Enthusiast
Here’s an update on our epic adventure to see Green Giant Parson’s in the wild.
Just a little info on what it took to actually see these chameleons in their natural habitat. It took 27 hours of travel from California to reach Antananarivo which is the capital of Madagascar. Then about a 1 1/2 hour flight in a smaller plane to get to Morantsetra. From there we took a 2 1/2 hour boat ride on a pretty small boat to get to our destination on Masoala Peninsula.
Finding these chameleons is kind of like trying to find a needle in a haystack. A tremendous amount of effort went into finding the ones we saw. We ended up seeing 1 juvenile male, 1 adult female and 2 babies.
Big thanks to Thorsten Negro and Tanalahorizion for making it happen.
Next up is Andasibe for Cristifer’s and then Vohimana for Yellow Giants.
