Great choice!Ok thanks. It’s a male ambilobe from FramsChams and I will also send a pic of the bulb
I just switched from an 8” heat dome to a 5.5” and I want to find an 8” thermostat one to move back, due to the gentle heat too, made the ambients a bit better IMOI’m a fan of wider heat domes. Spread out some gentle heat. Don’t make it hell hot in a tiny area so you chams burn when they screen climb. I went through that with my first…
You can even tilt the dome so it spreads the heat in a gradient. I use a 29 watt bulb in a 9” Arcadia dome and sit it right on top of the screen. 85 degrees at the branch and gentle enough at the screen that I can leave my hand there indefinitely.
Here’s your mantra from now on… If it’s burning your hand, it’s going to burn them. Of course use your wired probe to confirm the temp but also use your hand to sense how it feels at the screen. Give it a minute to let the heat build up on your hand. If you’re still comfortable, they will be too.
I would consider switching your bulb type out.I also have a 40W incandescent light bulb. Do you think that would work better than the one I am using right now?
Either as long as they are plain white rounded incandescent bulbs that produce the right heat levels.Like switching it to the 40 W bulb or to the other one you suggested earlier?
What wattage do you recommendTypically we recommend the regular white incandescent bulbs like these https://www.chewy.com/exo-terra-day...ut1IRDyx_Wvp2qB5hSColvA0TxuwWvtBoCfLEQAvD_BwE
That will depend on your set up. most typically used would be a 60-75 watt in a fixture that is raised off the top of the cage a few inches. You can try it with the 40 watt though and test your temps at the branch and on the screen. Nothing hotter than 80 at the branch for a youngen like you are getting. At the screen you should be able to sit and hold your hand there without it feeling hot. What wattage do you recommend
