Hyperthermia

So the vet said she could have neurological improvement for up to 48 hours. He also gave me numbers to 2 reptile specialists. She's gravid and I've been waiting for her to lay and they can spay her in case she doesn't improve enough to lay on her own. She's home, still shaky but was able to climb to her favorite spot in her enclosure. Mentally she still seems "off" but at least she's showing improvement

Fingers crossed she keeps improving

I just went in to peak on her and she got mad at me for simply looking in the cage. I didn't even open the door and she got her angry colors on when she saw me.

It sounds like she could have had a mini stroke from the over heating. From the sounds of it she will recover just fine, or at least to the point where she will function well enough on her own with maybe some accommodations, such as only cup feeding or hand feeding, and making sure there are lots of branches to be able to travel around in her cage to make sure she doesn't fall from a mistep. It might even be necessary to make a catch net.

She was fed yesterday so we'll see how feeding goes tomorrow. She loves to hunt and has never hand fed so hopefully that won't be an issue. There's tons of branches, worse comes to worse I can do a catch net. But she is climbing well and reared up on her 2 hind legs to hiss and try and bite me a few minutes ago when I went to get her out to check her balance. She was steady and sure footed. I'm going to leave her alone now and try not to be obsessive. Brains are amazing and can recover from a lot of damage

I would definitely agree. You should definitely leave her alone as much as possible today. Not saying you shouldn't discreetly check up on her, just the more she gets stressed the harder it will be for her to recover. It just sounds like heat gave her a very minor stroke. So she should be fine.

I want to go in there every 5 minutes and check. I know that's me being a worry wort. I gave her good 1st aid and the vet is optimistic so I feel good about her recovery

For sure I understand that I would be the same way I imagine but it does sound like she just gave you a good scare and you will get to enjoy many more years worrying about her :D

Thanks. I so enjoy her. I dote on her and she makes me laugh. You've seen someof her pictures. Those poses. She's a character

The other thing is they don't need much brain to behave normally as they found when studying the sheep with scabies which is similar to mad cow disease. Good luck.
