I’m back! Hello Once Again

Hey guys,
It’s been about 4 years since I’ve been on the forums and about the same amount of time having a reef tank and no chameleons. Today was a big day as I sold my reef tank and used that money to fund a chameleon again, I just couldn’t stay away! As of now I have a medium reptibreeze with a shefflera plant that covers most the cage and some bendable vines around that. Got a Reptisun 10.0 UVB, a 60W Daylight Bulb for Basking, 60W Plant light. I also purchased a Reptirain system(not set up yet), calcium and thermometer. All I need now is a Cham! If anyone is selling please let me know. Great to be back

So the cage you have is too small for an adult panther. The recommended minimum for panthers is 2’x2’x4’ tall, but preferably 4’x2’x4’ tall or bigger. Bigger is always better! Is your UVB a T5 HO, T8, or compact bulb? Make sure you don’t use any Exo Terra vines as well, as they can cause health issues. The ReptiRain systems really suck, MistKing and Climist (or make your own) are best, but Exo Terra Monsoons can be used. What type(s) of calcium did you buy? What type of thermometer did you buy, as well? Do you have any other supplements? If you want to, you can fill out the ask for help form to make sure everything is 100%! Sorry for all of the questions and such, I just want to make sure you have everything perfect so he lives his best life once you get him! (I’m guessing you’re getting a male since you’re talking about colors)

We’ll I plan to get him small so that’s why I got a medium cage. The UVB is compact bulb for now. And no exo terra vines just regular bendable ones. I’ve heard reptirain isn’t that good but it’s for starters I’ve had a mist-king before. I also got zoomed calcium and repti-Vite. Thermometer is just the standard probe ones with LED screens. And no other supplements apart from that. I believe this was my equipment setup from before, I had one Nosy Be, one Veiled, and one Quadricornus Gracillior.

The compact coil UVB bulbs do more harm than good. You’ll want to get a T5 High Output linear fixture and bulb (either Arcadia 6% or Zoo Med ReptiSun 5.0), preferably the length of biggest cage he’ll get. You’ll want the bulb to be raised 4” above the cage and your cham‘s basking branch 5” below the top of the cage to get proper UVI levels (unless you have a Solarmeter 6.5 to check things more accurately). The ReptiRain doesn’t have the settings needed for proper misting sessions (2-5+ minutes around lights off, lights on, and in the late afternoon if needed. Shorter mistings can be used throughout the night to raise humidity levels, as well). Does the calcium or Reptivite have D3 in it?

Yes reptivite has D3. I will def switch up the light fixture then before the Cham, right now we just have the setup. I also have a manual mister so my wife can mist throughout the day to supplement reptirain while I purchase a better system.

Just bought my panther chameleon. He is an abmilobe, couldn’t find any Nosy Be but it was a steal. Pictures attached. Reptirain isn’t the best but it should do for now I have the wife at home for misting. Got his cage setup(not done yet). I will be adding mor branches and vines later. For now I’m using the Reptisun twist bulb for now, my Arcadia should be here by this week though and that will be his UVB. Stocked up on super worms and crickets and will be starting a discoid roach colony again. Also included pic of the sire!
