I hate ants!!!

Hello, well today when i was cleaning out Clea's cage i saw ants trying to ge tin her cage and i was wondering why are they doing this so i took the plants out, cleaned the cage out, and then when i was finished and put everything back in..the ants kept coming. I was really aggravated so i found where they were coming from, took some plumbers putty and put it over the holes they were coming out of. Nasty little ****. I hate them.

PS-Sorry if this thread is posted in the wrong place. I couldn't figure where else it could go.

What are they trying to get to. If they are establishing a nest the putty won't stop them. You need to find where they are getting into your room.

its really not that many but they are still pissing me off. Whatever they were coming for i wiped it out because they haven't been coming for the past hour. I hope it stays like this

You have to get rid of the source to stop the ants. Kill the queen! Are they some sort of fire ant?

You live in Florida. There is no stopping the ants! HAHA! I used to set out gatorade bottles with a little bit of gatorade mixed with ant poison all over my house when I lived in Florida. They were attracted to the sugar and would crawl right in! I really hate ants too. It was like a never ending battle. Sprinkling poison outside of windows or wherever they're coming in seems to help too, or just hiring someone to spray the outside perimeter of your house. Since I have cats and had a bunch of reptiles when I lived in Florida, we couldn't fumigate inside.

LOL, sometimes I hate the wind and rain too Stefan, No putty for that. Just as much nature as your chameleon. Why do we kill anything thats inconvenient, including each other?.
The ants will be looking for moisture probly, they have no idea its your house/cham cage.
Not much you can really do about it, except perhaps try to divert them away with an alternate moisture source outside the window, perhaps an old pot old of moist soil.
They are annoying, but uless they're in 'hollywood horror movie' numbers, they wont harm the cham.
:)

I just finished repotting all my plants and buying some new ones bec ause of ants. They were nesting in at least two seperate cages so i just did them all. Cleaned and rearranged while I was at it, my veiled seemed to have outgrown his cage so i moved him to the bigger cage. Moved the crested into his old cage. Everybody seems happy. Tried flooding the ants out first that did not work I did find some big nasty beetles though from superworms? Black andhard shelled none of the lizards i owned would eat them. My melleri ate one but would not eat anymore after that one. When he was eating that one he had this look like WTF.

Yeah, ants can be annoying, they stole my entire mealworm (not for chams) colony a lil while ago. Haha.

i hate them! and the thing is one time i bred crickets in the garage and the next day i go in there and you see the ants carrying the cricket eggs on their heads. Made me so pissed

Having lost a large male panther years ago to them in an outdoor enclosure, that statement is false. However the ants Stephan is talking about are tiny and more aggravating than anything. Fire ants however are nothing to ignore.

Had a close call like that the other day, now I treat all the ant piles anywhere near my outdoor enclosures.:)

Yeah but I get to get my own back on them seeing as my horned lizards eat about 50 a day each.... haha. :D

Outdoor enclosure and not the same ant species. Not exactly false.
Never the less, Im sorry to hear that.
I think stefan is referring to tiny black ants, not fire ants or army ants, or bull ants.

Yes indeed they are tiny black ants

when i was little and my parents built their house it disturbed a lot of ants...so my mom would boil water and go outside and dump it on the anthills...that cleared them up real quick....lol
