I hate dome spotlights!

i cant stand the triditonal dome style lights. i never feel safe leaving the house with them on and i think they look tacky! so ive been looking around and found this http://www.bigappleherp.com/site/po...dia.nl?id=864&c=583636&h=388f0e63db5ac48740cc what do you think??

Me too they look like crap. that link worked for me, either way thats close but no cigar. just cause compact uvb arent really any good. i attached what i use and it looks nice plus is perfect for the needs of a chameleon.

i use these on my enclosures and it makes them look nice and finished off.

I guess it would work if you have one of those Aluminum terrariums. It would stand out to much with the dark color cage. I have my two cages in my living room and believe me im all about keeping everything sharp and streamline.

I think it's too expensive for what it is, and that you are better off with the "tacky" dome lights. Why are you scared to have yours on? Fear of a fire?
That shouldn't happen with the low wattage bulbs you should be using with the proper fixture etc... unless you happen to have flammable objects underneath the light.

I have a dome suspended above my bearded dragon's cage and it fell and broke the glass, even scorched what was under the cage (mind you this was a big, hot bulb).
That was the extent of the damage.

I'm with you on the dome light so picked up one of these (got the 30 inch but it is no longer on their website):

I also have a black cage and have family that insist my cham hobby meets some decor criteria. The white looks good on top and I can keep my UVB tube, basking bulb and 6500K plant light all under one hood.
