I have a few questions...

My boyfriend and I recently became the proud owners of a lovely male Jackson's Chameleon. We were curious about what type of Supplements type and brand that would be best for our lil guy. We've been searching all over the web, but weren't very luck because there are so many different opinions. So far we've purchased Rep-Cal Phosphorus-free Calcium with Vit. d3, and the Rep-Cal Herptivite with beta Carotene multivitamin. We're also looking to get the rep-cal Calcium without D3. Also We've come up with a schedule of Cal D3 twice a month, and the vitamins four times a month. Would that be too much or should we lower the dosage?

hope this helps

there is an excellent video on youtube its by "rawg277201" its called "Jacksons chameleon video" sorry cant post the link on my phone . anyways this video covers everything from caging lighting very specific diet suplements and humidity requirments of jaxsons. Check it out its a must see for new jacksons owners in my opinion . hope that helps good luck

Much much lower, you don't need to supliment jacksons much at all, once or twice a week with a calcium with out d3 was all I did and maybe a vitamin once a month and d3 once a month, montane species like jacksons require a good gut load tho so read up well for the best gutload to give to your feeders

More Questions

We've already watched that guy on youtube and learned a bunch of things, but My boyfriend isn't convinced about Fred's Medicines (That's what I call them). We don't wanna give him anything that will hurt him. And we have to order then Calcium without d3 from online. For gut loading We purchased Flunkers Orange Cubes for the crickets to eat. Is it possible to use the multivitamin and Calcium with D3 regardless? Atleast until we get our hands on Cal without D3? As long as we use it in very teeny Tiny Moderation? I've been worrying about lil Fred so we need to find out what brand of Meds we can give him soon. Everyone keeps telling us different things and it's not helping at all XD. However worry not though. We're still working to give Fred the perfect home when we get a fogger and humidifier, unfortunately that will have to wait until we have the money. I want to make sure Fred lives a full life, and my boyfriend can worry less.

Make the questions stop! lol j/k

Also I was conserned about my Fred being exposed to a fan. I have no intentions of it blowing directly on him. But I was curious about a fan being a good idea due to air circulation and making sure he has fresh comfy air to breath and live longer.

Hello and congrats on your new baby!

Supplementing and gutloading are very important. Using too much d3 and multivitamin can cause things like edema and kidney failure so its vital that you don't give him too much.

Montane species such as jacksons need only a little calcium dusting but the feeder insects need a high calcium diet. Fluckers is not a very good choice, good for hydration but as far as nutrition goes its not great. Here's a great blog about gutloading and which fruits and veg are high in calcium etc. https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/sandrachameleon/ her dry gutload recipes are fantastic too!

Here is a link to a great care sheet for you too https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/hoj/634-montane-chameleon-care-info.html you will get conflicting advice around the web but its safe to say that this info is sound as a pound :)

As far as brands for supplements go- repashy, exoterra, zoo med, sticky tongue farm are all good. The brand doesn't really matter too much, the content is what matters.

As long as the room is well ventilated you won't need a fan. You need toile a temperature gradient in his cage with a basking spot and cooler areas for him to go to :)
