Today I built a feeder run out of a cork bark round and some window screen material. Thoughts?

Looks good, only thing is won’t the Bugs be able to climb up the cork inside the feeder run? Because it’s not smooth (or at least it doesn’t look it)

The way I understand it that’s how they are supposed to work. The chameleon can see the movement better if the bugs climb up instead of hanging out down in the cup.

Yeah I know that’s right but isn’t that what the mesh is for??

Could be an issue. I’ll report back once my Cham moves into his permanent cage and starts using it. I just wanted something that looked more natural than a piece of plastic.

Yeah i would just think there feeders would just climb right out entirely. If that is an issue though, you could just put a Clear plastic sheet or something to cover the inside around the mesh.

Possibly....I think I might try to sand down the inside first to smooth it out.

Yeah but even that... well unless it’s literally like SLICK on the inside your bugs are going to get out.

Nice, but I think you should run a bead of hot glue along the screen edges to prevent your cham accidentally injuring it’s tongue.

ALright, so anybody got a suggestion of something that can be easily applied to the cork on the inside to make it smooth?

You could make a feeder run out of PVC pipe, then try and encase it with the cork bark if your going for a natural look.

Take the mesh out put 4 coats of triple thick polyurethane put mesh back in will work perfect

I will try this. Polyurethane is definitely safe for chams?
