I need help

She is a healthy looking female. the only chance she would be a male, and this is like a 0.0000001 chance, then its a pink panther cham. Unknown locale panther chams are very common karma, many people get them, just only as pets, people dont really breed the ones they buy. Unknown locale panther breeders just sell theirs for less and the colors are very interesting.

generally females are very colorfull in their own way, nothing compared to males but you gotta give them some credit, they arent just gray and mono-toned colored.

ya its a female o_O guy at the pet store told me it was a male o_O

GO back to that store and geta refund!!! unless your ok witha lil brown girl cham.... males are worth more and do get extremely nice colors.
you can tell by the vent (if theirs a bulge there) and the spur on the hind feet

She's a beautiful female! You should go back to the store and see if they know her locale. I would still be cautious with whatever answer they give you, though! Petstores are VERY often full of crap!

ya i just called them up to ask this is the only pet store on the island that sells chams i just called and asked if he knew and he said he doesnt sex them and he doesnt really trust the peoples words that he gets em from on the sex sooo what im most likely going to do eventually once i get the hang of the whole egg laying thing is im going to try to breed her eventually but not any time soon probably just once and thankfully i cant remember the user's name posted something about it on this thread but i appreciate it =D

Your girl is very pretty. :) It's unfortunate that your pet store is unreliable, but she should make a good pet regardless.

Many people would not recommend breeding her in order to help prevent undisclosed mixing of locales. Just remember, please use integrity if you do breed her. You need to explicitly state that you do not know the locale of the dame when you sell the babies. Even if you do that, however, there is still a possibility that someone will then breed one of her babies and claim those babies to be a pure locale. Breeding is just risky when you don't know the locale.

very true im gonna do some more reasearch on it before i even decide to do that because of the fact that it is my first chameleon and i dont want to just jump into doing something like that but i do have one more question do the females usually get color on them cause she is starting to show a lot of blue on her head and when the heat lamp is on orangish red and an augburn color on the top of her back which looks like its going to turn into a darker red ?

i guess its cause im new that im just still confused cause there is a bulge right at the base of her tail thats why im still a little confused

If you can post more pictures of the base of the tail, it will help us be able to tell more easily. The colors you're describing are characteristic of males, but females can sometimes show a bit of color as well. It is certainly possible that she could be a male, maybe a pink panther, although it is unlikely since that morph is fairly rare in captivity.

the head shot was for the colors on her head and you can see some of the red on her body as well

Your last pic is a good shot of the vent and tail base. What looks like a bulge is not where it would be present on a male. Just slightly farther down past the vent toward the end of the tail would be the hemipenal bulge if it were a male. Do a search on sexing baby panthers and there are a ton of photos pointing out the difference. You definitely have a girl there.

Here is another good thread with picture examples of what to look for.

Agreed. I know you wanted a male, but on the plus side, she's got some really nice female colors :)
