Hello Thomas and welcome to the forum!

You might want to read trough the basics of keeping a chameleon here:
https://www.chameleonforums.com/care/

There is much more needed -even for starting- then the good ventillated glass-or-mesh terrarium. You will need UVB light, Multivitamin, Calcium dust, basking light, dripper, safe live plants, reliable source of quality feeders +gutload, etc.

And, don't forget finding out if you have an experienced herp vet in your area! If money is tight this is something to plan ahead for. Never assume your local vet can deal with a cham's illnesses. Most vets have no clue at all.

You have no idea how sad and frustrating it is for us to hear the messages that start off with "my cham is sick and I can't afford a vet".

The cost of setting up a new cham is going to be more than the cham itself. You can house a small juvenile in a tank for a short time, but have the adult cage ready to go before you need it.
