I do not feel that there is anything wrong with trying to save an animal even if it requires rehab. What people do is cruel and if they can give it a taste of a good life no matter how short or long then why not. They are getting the person to give the chameleon to them not paying for it.

I do not feel that it is a matter of encouraging it but supporting them with information on how to assist this chameleon in recovery. They have a big heart and I think the world would be a much better place if more people cared on a deeper level especially when it comes to animals with no ability to care for themselves.

I wouldn't try get any chameleon from the Craigslist unless they pay me 500 to keep the cham...I will suggest the OP to look in other places in this forum for another cham..dont let the seller take advantage on the kindness that ready to give in for the seller's stupidity.

I agree with @alphakenc . A Craig list baby is not a good idea . It’s like getting a veiled from pet smart . If you are going for it anyhow , You will 100% need a good exotic vet . His care will be a pretty penny . If you have no experience Caring for a sick baby this endeavor will be a Challenge . It’s not that it can’t be done but you really need experience . That set up for one needs to be changed . Do you have someone that can help you with more experience caring for a sick Chameleon ?.

I don't think it is about winning.... You have your opinion and that is totally fine. I was just stating my opinion.... If the OP is going to jump into it then I feel offering support to them with the info that pertains to what they need is important.

@alphakenc has A wealth of information . He’s raised many many babies and has given tons of helpful advice . His opinion is very valid . Not saying yours is not . I get where you are coming from . This is what I will say . My Frances was one of these “ saved “ babies . Just like this one . God did I love her , we did the best we could for her had a great vet meds etc . With that said she was very sick her whole life , She suffered . Why because I had a soft heart . Was she Worth it yes would I do it agin NO !!. I get your point save them if you can but where does the inbreeding end big chain stores or people trying to make tons of money off a sick Cham end .

As someone who saved a chameleon on Craig’s list not to long ago it’s worth every penny once they are back on there feet. Seeing her able to climb without falling gives me nothing but joy now

Agreed op should also know the expense , time needed , still to come . He stated he has no idea he has never taking this on . I supposed we all start someplace . It’s something to definitely consider. Can he do injections if need be , can he afford the meds it could be months or more of meds . Can he give this baby the care it will need .
