Hey everyone! I've been building this cage for about...a month now. I finally have it pretty much done. I am going to a reptile show on Saturday, where I will hopefully bring home a male Veiled Chameleon, and a bunch of additional fake foliage! Anyway, please tell me what you think, I'm eager to hear you thoughts! The pics really do not do the decor justice, I stripped branches of the bark, and (hotglued) individual leaves on. It looks really cool! Well, um...Thanks! -JD

You need more foliage in there chams feel safer when there up high i suggest getting real plants like pothos, umbrella tree (Schefflera Arboricola), Ficus ect. but otherwise i think it looks pretty dang good :)

Thanks!!! Yeah I have a pothos, and I'm going to pick up some artificial foliage at the reptile expo. The only reason I don't have the pothos in there yet is because I didn't wash the leaves yet.

What were you doing all month???? Jus jokin looks great i would stick with potted plants and avoid gluing leaves on things they just get cover in cham crap then if they are silk leaves it sokes in . Every time you mist your cham will lap bacteria infested water droplets from the artificial leaves. Also silk plants are absorbent so droplets wont form for long. If you have to use artificial go with plastic it can be cleaned better because it's non absorbent like live leaves.

Haha, well, I have school and stuff so I didn't have all that much time in the world to work on it lol. It didn't help that I kept 4 getting to run to lowes and get more oak strips lol. Thanks for the tips btw ;)

When I click on the images its titled frog + cham cage....are you planning on keeping frogs with the chams?

With a few live plants in there that is going to be a great cham enclosure :)

Looks great...what are the dimensions? Yeah, more plants, obviously. Definitely a nice cage. Got the drainage worked out? And lighting? Lucky cham that gets that home.

Your problems might come down to feeding.
It looks like those are rather large holes in the wiring meshing so you'll need to cup feed.
If you get a Cham that wont cup feed, I hope you have a way of caging in your feeders :p

Lol, no I have a pet whites tree frog, and I since I had the camera charged and out, while I was at it I just snapped a few photo's of my Whites. When I uploaded them 2 the computer, I just named the file frog + chameleon cage, two completely separate subjects. As far as I know you can't keep the two of them in the same enclosure. Unless it's like a HUGE greenhouse style vivarium. :) Thanks!!! :)

I was actually going to put a 6 inch strip of plexi-glass around the bottom, to keep the feeders in. Speaking of feeders, do you know of a good RELIABLE source of silkworms? Thanks -JD

umm I had it memorized, but I'm not 100% I'll go check quick, btw yes I have a 75 watt basking bulb, and a 5.0 Exo terra...um, I forget the exact name, but its a flourescent bulb :)....Ok so, it took me forever to find some measuring tape haha. It's a little over 3 feet tall, 3 feet wide, and 2 feet deep. You know what I mean by deep right? As in, the front of the cage to the back of the cage. ;) Thanks! -JD

I also built my own cages at roughly the same demesions and found that putting a screw eye through a top rail allowed me to hang a pothos that I got from Home Depot. It works really well if you get one with a lot of vines since they can hang down from near the top and give good cover and more surface for water to drip from. I posted some pics of the cages at the link below if you care to take a look.

Oh thank you so much! Have you ordered from them before? I'm going to a Reptile expo in the morning where I'm going 2 get my male veiled chameleon. I'm pretty sure they'll be selling silkworms, I read on one of the vendor's sites that they normally sell them so, hopefully.. But later on this winter, I'll need 2 buy some so Thanks! -JD

(P.S. What reptiles/aphibs do you have?)

I have bought from mulberry farms before. They are good as long as you follow the instructions for feeding the worms. They are a little more work than crickets. I have a pair of ambilobe pathers. Did you check out the pictures on the link?

If you feed crickets you will have to put them into something. 6" of plexiglass won't cut it because crickets like to climb. It is easy to make a cup feeder. There should be directions somewhere. It might be better to put the plexi on the bottom of the cage....easier to clean and won't soak up the water.

Cool! Sorry I completely over looked that until just 5 minutes ago. Wow nice panthers. I would LOVE to buy a panther... My budget just isn't allowing that right now haha.

You have two cages for the chameleons right?

Um, I only have one. I've been building this cage for a while, and this morning I went to a reptile show and got a nice Juv. Veiled Cham. He's really cool, he ate right after I got him home! Hey do you know if I can feed him madagasgar hissing cockroach nymphs? or do they have too hard of an exo-skeleton? I read that Chams. need a variety of feeders (for best results) so far I already breed my own crickets, mealworms, and I've bred Silkmoths in the past, so that's no prob as well :)
