If you post your location it would be easier to help you. Try posting in this forum: www.dendroboard.com -where most members readily have fruitflies. May be you can find someone in your area with them.

stflies.com I haven't ordered from them but it's a site I found. I believe most people recommend d.hydei over d.melanogaster because hydei are bigger. someone correct me if I'm wrong.

correct, but Hydei take longer to produce and melanogaster produce pretty fast, regardless I prefer hydei

In Covina the Amazon Reptile Center has Hydei

theyr actually really good on feeders i think

And it beats driving to Reptile Depot from Alhambra
