i use sink water to mist?

I lucked out. I have my Cham at my work warehouse and the office is equipped with a RO dispenser. :D

Hrmm.. Maybe i'm missing something, but, what is fridge water?

EDIT: uh nevermind. I don't have one of those fancy fridges so I forget they can actually GIVE you water.

Ha ha don't feel bad I thought it was a brand of bottled water until I just read this and it dawned on me...

Sometimes I suspect myself of living under a rock...

Well...color me the stupidest because I actually thought he was suggesting chilled water as opposed to straight out of the tap....

Wish I could take the credit for figuring it out myself (boyfriend had to help clue me in)

At least I can take comfort in knowing I wasnt the only one who didn't get it. Definitely thought it meant tap water.. put in the fridge. :p

Kmw, we can go in the corner and pat each other on the back and say "oh, no! That's what I thought too!!! You're not stupid!!!"....

As there are at least 2 of us, it will be okay.

You're never truly stupid if someone else agrees with you.

I started out using purified water (bottled water) for misting, and in my cool mist humdifier, and also in my drip system, After a few weeks I switched to tap water, I was going through over a gallon a day, thats like $30 a month in water, On top of all the crickets I buy and everythign else, It jsut wasnt cost effective, I think I may look into a filtration system soon. I am about to buy a exo terra monsoon, In it I will switch back to purified or filtered water.....

I use RO water for all my reptiles. I don't know if tap water is bad for reptiles. I've been lucky to have a RO system. I installed it years ago and it's been great to have.

Same here, I work in a lab so I can take my water jugs to work and fill them with DI (deionized) water which I use in my MistKing (per their instructions) and my humidifiers.
But for their regular misting I use half/half tap and distilled (not DI) water.
So I use 3 kinds of water  :p

I use water out of one of those "Glacier" vending machines.

Rasing tropical fish, testing the water constantly I learned our tap water here is EXTREAMLY hard, the PH level was off the charts. The only way I got it to acceptable levels (for the fish) without constantly using harsh chemicals, which is stressful to the fish, was to use 1/2 tap & 1/2 filtered when doing water changes.

That said, I would not have a problem using tap if I ran out of the other for short term (day or two, here and there).

I have never tested our water for TDS (total dissolved solids) but would guess
it is fairly hard because it leaves white mineral stains when it evaporates.

You can always buy a TDS meter and check:D
I'm in the same position of testing my water, seeing weather or not i need to buy an RO system.

Your municipality more than likely has a website. Hunting around some you can probably find the water tests results/contents. It's usually buried so it may take a little effort finding it. Deciphering the information is another story

make that three
I didnt know what fridge water meant either at first. Actually, still unsure - is it just tap water piped through the fridge to keep it extra cold? Im thinking that's something people in hot climates would care about, I guess? The water is always cold straight from my tap / sink faucet

That's what I need to do, buy a RO system, but they are soooo expensive, add to that, the cost of a plumber to install it :(

You can get small RO systems that would be fine for your drinking and Cham water for under 200 USD, i've seen them for under 100 USD.

I generally find various reef aquarium forums have good reviews and can point to good inexpensive units. Almost every reef keeper uses RO water these days as TDS is the new cool thing to check.
