well, some of you guys on here are amazing and i wanna know more about some of you, so heres a few questions :)

1.)how long have you had chameleons?
2.)how did you start off? (how it all began/mistakes/accomplishments)
3.)what kinds have you had?
4.)about how many individuals have you had?
5.)favorites? (personal favorite you have had or a favorite type)
6.)tell me about the ones you have now :) (pics?)
7.)any other pets?
8.)what advice can you give me as a new cham owner soon?
9.)any questions for me?

im pretty sure this will benefit more people than just me :) thanks!

1) I have had chameleons for 3 months total. Not too long!

2) I started with one WC Jackson's named Pascal. I got him in a trade for my clown tree frogs because my friend had always wanted them and I had always wanted a cham :) Unfortunately, my Jackson's died suddenly. I took him to an emergency clinic but he died there. I could not afford a necropsy so I have no idea what happened to him. After he died I did a Japanese-style fish print of him to remember him:
http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hpho...008400654_629645653_20654930_1058585431_n.jpg
However, I started fresh with two new girls I got in a trade when I was vending at an expo two months ago. Lua and Perl, female blue bar ambilobe panther and veiled. They are getting bigger every day and seeing them healthy for these last two months has been a huge accomplishment for me :)

3) Jackson's, veiled, panther.

4) 4. I recently adopted a baby female veiled but I am only fostering. A little girl I go to church with saw my pictures on facebook and wants a chameleon so badly, she reminded me of a younger me :) Her mom talked to me and we will work closely to make sure she is taken care of in their home. I figure since I'm a student, she will get way more attention in their home.

5) I am so far favoring the veileds. I love them so much, they just have my heart. My Jackson's is so dear in my heart though. I miss him so much.

6) Lua the veiled, Perl the panther and my foster baby Jade the veiled.

7) 4 ball pythons: Yoshi (normal male), Birdo (female Ghana), Petey (male het albino), Bullet Bill (male yellow belly);
One female albino Pacman frog, Mango; and my Black&Tan Pomeranian, Choxie.

8) If you have a WC import, take it to the vet whether it was owned previously or not. Whatever killed Pascal could have been prevented by checkups. Stay on this forum and READ every thread that pertains to emergencies. Finally, take your cham to the vet at the FIRST sign of serious illness, do not wait.

9) What kind of cham are you getting?

Hi I can't answer all that right now but I want to tell you that there are plenty of equestrians on here like Julirs and mbondy.

Hi I can't answer all that right now but I want to tell you that there are plenty of equestrians on here like Julirs and mbondy.

thats nice to know!
maybe people are catching onto something, horses and chameleons? they go together like glue and paper <3 haha.

I am completely common.:)

1.)how long have you had chameleons?
About 8 years

2.)how did you start off? (how it all began/mistakes/accomplishments)
My sister has and has had so many different reptiles it is amazing. But after having beardie for a few years I had to have a chameleon. mistakes - more than I can tell you.
My biggest success was a rescue my husband named Lucky. He was a veiled I rescued. He was an adult who had lived in a 16x16x20 cage his whole life. A pair of kids bought Lucky as a baby and did not realize, or did not want to realize, he needed a larger cage and better care. When I took him, no one expected him to live. Or for me to live, as he tried to take your hand off if you got close. Lucky moved to a 100 gal reptarium the day I got him. Within 3 weeks he had put on weight and would allow my hand in his cage without stress or biting. He moved fro California to Montana with me. He would come over a walk onto my hand and up my are anytime I opened his cage. After we were here 15 months, I can in one morning and his tongue was stuck on a branch about 8" from him. I got it lose, called the vet 5 hours away, and was told in sub zero weather I would be crazy to try to drive it. At the vet's recommendation I took him to the local cow & horse vet and had him put down. He had a good 22 months and that was all I could ask for. As I sat holding him and crying while he was put down, I was thankful at least part of his life had been good.

3.)what kinds have you had?
I have had panthers, veileds, elliotti, carpets, senagals, pgymy, jacksons, tavetanas, bitaeniatus, deremensis, quads. Hope I didn't miss any.

4.)about how many individuals have you had?
I did a lot or rescues on the forum for a while so I don't know how many I have had. Let's just say over 40 and let it go at that. At one point I had 22 adults. That does not include all the babies I have had.

5.)favorites? (personal favorite you have had or a favorite type)
My favorite is, and I think always will be, quads.

6.)tell me about the ones you have now (pics?)
Currently i have 2 male panthers, one male and one female quad And a bunch of deremensis babies.

7.)any other pets?
I have 2 spayed Schipperke dogs, and 1 husband.

8.)what advice can you give me as a new cham owner soon?
Read lots about chams, watch your chams closely and learn from them, get lots of opinions and use all those to form your own opinion. Never, ever even think you know it all. None of us do when it comes to these wonderful animals.

9.)any questions for me?
Why do you want a cham, are you ready for the time and financial requirements of your cham, and are you ready to fall in love?:)

1. Since around 7/23/11. I haven't had them long.
2. Most people frown upon impulse purchases, but its actually how a lot of us get into the hobby. Including me. I originally purchased a Veiled chameleon from Petsmart. I went there to look for a tree frog and fell in love with the chameleon. Of course I went home and specifically typed in googe "Forum for chameleons" and found this. :D
3. First I had a Veiled chameleon, which I returned because I did not have the proper equipment at the time. Dumb decision on my part to impulse buy. But hey, it got me here. :) Then I got Niles, a baby blue bar Ambilobe panther. He escaped and passed away. I then got Waldo, a baby blue bar Ambilobe from the same clutch. I have him currently and he's turning out beautiful. I then just recently got a 6 month old Blue Bar Ambilobe female, named Peaches.
4. Kinda answered that in number three, haha.
5. I personally like Nosy Falys and Parsons the best. After that, i'd say Ambilobes and Nosey Bes.
6. I have two Blue bar Ambilobes. One male and one female. Pictures can be seen by looking at my albums. :)
7. I have a Red Eyed Tree frog named Lucky.
8. Do LOTS of research! Theres SO much information to take in. You need the proper lighting, (UVB and basking), the proper humidity, proper cage, proper vitamins, supplements, and nutrition, and much much more. There are lots of helpful blogs and users around here that will help.
9. What cham are you looking into? :)

1.) How long have you had chameleons?
Going on a little over two years now, and hopefully will have then for a lot longer.

2.) How did you start off? (how it all began/mistakes/accomplishments)
I started off with an 7-8 month old male Jackson's that I bought in August a couple years ago, Othello. I had a left over ferret cage that I recycled for him and it worked really well, but didn't have an easy way to drain water. So after a few months I got him a 2x2x4 cage to live in. He was a great first chameleon, he was super sweet. But when I moved 6 months ago I sent him to a new home, who could keep him at his optimum cooler temps.

3.) What kinds have you had?
Jacksons, many panthers (Ambilobe, Nosy Be, a few crosses), a veiled, and a Meller's.

4.) About how many individuals have you had?
I've had a total of 8 individuals now, although the Meller's I had for a very short time. I lost him to a prolapse at a very young, delicate age.

5.) Favorites? (personal favorite you have had or a favorite type)
My cross boy, Daedalus. He just stole my heart from the day he came out of the box, I was so excited to have him. And his personality has been amazing, I love him to bits.

6.) Tell me about the ones you have now (pics?)
The ones I have right now are:

Azura - Nosy Be x Ambilobe x Ambanja

Daedalus - Nosy Faly x Ambanja

Cobalt - Nosy Be

7.) Any other pets?
I have a 3.5 year old blue merle Shetland sheepdog, Mina, and I'm temporarily housing a ball python named Dakar. I also have a fresh water tank.

8.) What advice can you give me as a new cham owner soon?
Don't worry so much, and use lots of common sense. Many of the most common questions we get could be answered if people stopped for a second and thought about it without the fears and panics of being a new owner - in my opinion.

9.) Any questions for me?
Who is that handsome animal in your avatar? :D

1.)how long have you had chameleons?
I got my first one on July 19th of this year. So I guess about 3.5 months ago?

2.)how did you start off? (how it all began/mistakes/accomplishments)
I guess my initial spark started when I was around maybe 7ish? Which is when I first realized it was possible to have a chameleon as a pet. Then maybe 6 months ago my girlfriend mentioned chameleons at the petstore and it reminded me...and I actually old enough to get one.:p Although I ordered mine.

I would almost say my first mistake was buying a cage, but it has since come in handy for cham number 2 for the time being so I don't mind it too much. No accomplishments yet, aside from the fact that they are still alive.

3.)what kinds have you had?
Ambilobe Panther

4.)about how many individuals have you had?
Two

5.)favorites? (personal favorite you have had or a favorite type)
My newest one is my favorite, only because at this point he has way better colors...Although he is a lot more skittish/mean.

6.)tell me about the ones you have now (pics?)
Darwin is around 6.5/7 months old and Komputer is closer to 9. Darwin is free range, he doesn't really like me but he has never hissed/gaped at me. Komputer has gaped at me a few times and leans away a lot.

7.)any other pets?
I have a crested gecko named demitri who is probably around 3 months old.

8.)what advice can you give me as a new cham owner soon?
Read about/ask questions about the products you buy before you buy them so you dont waste time or money. Order your crickets online, it'll save you a ton of money. Also, don't be defensive or hard headed if a lot of people see your set up and suggest you remove/change something... we all just want happy/safe chams :)

9.)any questions for me?
uhm. any favorite musicians/bands/genre?

thanks for the advice, i know i panic sometimes when trying to figure out simple things like which plant to put in the cage, how many vines, suppliments, ect. its soo everwhelming but common sense does help :)

and that handsome animal's name is chief :) he's a registered american paint horse who is colored like a cow, he is not mine, but i was traning him for an elderly friend :)

your chams are beautiful btw ^.^

ive always been interested in chams since i was little, i was a HUGE dinosaur fan, but i never realized they could be kept as pets until recently XD i have a couple hundred saved up in my bank and just won a $50 gift card to josh's frogs, so money shouldnt be a real problem. and yes, i am ready to fall in love! i already have and havent even met my future cham!!!

I know it can be overwhelming but sometimes just stepping back and thinking about it logically can be all you need. Something like "How many plants are too many?" Well, you know these animals live in the rainforest, and that they have access to very dense greenery because they like to hide in it, but they need to be able to move easily. So if you you can use your best judgement and have areas that have more plants and others that are more branches or vines. It's hard to go wrong besides under-doing it, but with a little common sense stuff like that is easy to figure out.

I'm not going to tell you you'll have the common sense to know what to do in a prolapse situation, or something like that, but for little things you'd be surprised how easy the answers are when you ask lol. Like, oh, duh!

He's a beautiful horse, I love the black and white ones.

1.)how long have you had chameleons?
1 year.

2.)how did you start off? (how it all began/mistakes/accomplishments)
My friend's dad had a WC Jackson's that they didn't know was pregnant. I got a baby, Kaos. He was sick when I got him and didn't know and he ended up passing away a 3 weeks later. 2 months later I bought a Veiled, Rango.

3.)what kinds have you had?
I've had a Jackson's and a Veiled.

4.)about how many individuals have you had?
2

5.)favorites? (personal favorite you have had or a favorite type)
I really like my Jacksons cus he was so friendly. But my veiled has gotten alot more friendlier and is much more prettier with colors. I would like to get a pair of Jacksons later down the road. And I also want a male Panther.

6.)tell me about the ones you have now (pics?)
My veield is very spoiled. He's got a cage, a free range and we are working on makeing him an outside cage for the winter. He is very active and interesting.

7.)any other pets?
I have 2 dogs (Bindie and Allie), 3 cats (Sebastian, Lucky and Little Steezy), 2 guinea pigs (Zumie and Asher), 2 crested geckos (Kannon and Diamond), 1 leopard gecko (Glimmer) , 1 african dwarf frog (Biggie Frogz), and some fish.

8.)what advice can you give me as a new cham owner soon?
Just do your research and make sure to have everything ready before you get your little one.

9.)any questions for me?
Nope. Good luck :)

1.)how long have you had chameleons?
I have kept chams for about 15 years now
2.)how did you start off? (how it all began/mistakes/accomplishments)
My first was a veiled, then I got a pair of Jackson's about a year after that. It's been growing ever since. I was lucky when I started, for the time at least, I had a breeder give me a lot of good info(ie: no aquariums, gutload insects, uv light, and live plants). Mistakes would have been probably early on not recognizing or knowing different temps and humidity for my montane specimens.
3.)what kinds have you had?
T. jacksoni, T. Johnstoni, T. Pferri, F. lats, C. Caly, T. Melleri, R. Brev., K. Multi, K. fischeri, T. Rudis.
4.)about how many individuals have you had?
The most at once was prob about 19, now I have 8.
5.)favorites? (personal favorite you have had or a favorite type)
This is a hard one, prob Mellers, they really are gentle giants.. most of the time :D. I have had some with very interesting individual personalities, so it's a tough decision.
6.)tell me about the ones you have now (pics?)
Sorry no pics at the moment(work pc), but now I have a rescue veiled that I'm rehabbing, a pair of T. pferri(the male is my avatar), a pair of T. jacksonii, a pair of R. brevs(pygmy chams) and a male F. lateralis
7.)any other pets?
A ma;e Bearded Dragon and a Charcoal lab this is about 3 years old.
8.)what advice can you give me as a new cham owner soon?
Use common sense, give them more water than you think that you should, use as many types of feeders as you can and no aquariums or substrate.
9.)any questions for me?
How are you liking the forums? I see that you have a horse, do you just ride for fun or other reason? My sister barrel races and breeds them. Also good idea and nice to meet you.

1.) How long have you had chameleons?

I can't believe in my list of chams, I forgot Rah, my meller's, thanks, Olimpia for reminding me.

1.)how long have you had chameleons?
Almost two years now.
2.)how did you start off? (how it all began/mistakes/accomplishments)
My girlfriend fell in love with a baby at a local pet store. We checked him out and I liked it. I went home and did about 2 months of research before diving into getting one. I finally did get a Senegal but was a WC and died soon after. We fell in love with him and have moved to getting many more
3.)what kinds have you had?
I have had:
Senegal WC- Jepeto
T. J. Xanth WC- No name
C. Calyptratus CB from FLChams- Enano and Enana
F. Pardalis CB Masoala from FLChams- No name yet
An ellioti baby but had some troubles with it. Wasnt the only one from the clutch that passed away.

4.)about how many individuals have you had?
Have had the above plus many babies. Right now I'm raising a clutch of 67 veileds
5.)favorites? (personal favorite you have had or a favorite type)
All are my favorites. I love the panther colorations, the attitude of veileds, and I am wanting to get into montanes.
6.)tell me about the ones you have now :) (pics?)
I have my 2 veileds, Enano and Enana (Male and female), my masoala panther, and 67 baby veileds. Soon I'll have an ambanja baby son of Gargamel, and by early next year 2 clutches of ambanjas should hatch from my female ambanja i recently sold.
7.)any other pets?
2 parakeets and a cat here at home. I have a dog in my ranch in colombia and an American Quarter horse in my grandpa's ranch.
8.)what advice can you give me as a new cham owner soon?
Study well before diving in and always have some money saved up just in case of an emergency.
9.)any questions for me?

im pretty sure this will benefit more people than just me :) thanks!

I like this thread :)

1.)how long have you had chameleons?
About 4 years altogether now. My first for 3 years, my current two for 1 year each
2.)how did you start off? (how it all began/mistakes/accomplishments)
I kept lizards since I was about 10, starting with anoles. My first Cham I got at about 16 and she was the last one in the shop due to a spinal deformity so I got her cheap (the shop told me she was a male, and I only had one book about Chams and no forum to help me). Many and varied trials ensued, the family favourite one being the day we moved house and Stuart layed eggs!
3.)what kinds have you had?All Veileds
4.)about how many individuals have you had? 3
5.)favorites? (personal favorite you have had or a favorite type) Can't really say, they are all so ace! Stuart was the first and was so sweet and confused and funny - My current male is the only male Cham I've had so he's my special guy too (but so picky about eating, probably my fault for spoiling him). And my current female is such a good eater, and so shy too.......
6.)tell me about the ones you have now :) (pics?) My boy -

My girl - https://www.chameleonforums.com/members/davidbuchan-albums-my-female-veiled-picture11805-a.html
7.)any other pets? I also have a Savannah Monitor right now, for when I want to pet a lizard.....

8.)what advice can you give me as a new cham owner soon? Just stay on the forum....... :)
9.)any questions for me?
Are you ready to be infatuated with a lizard to the point that its food will eat better than you do? Obviously you are, so no real questions yet..........
