If impaction ever occurs...

pinchy

Does anyone have any home remedies or DIY instructions to aid an impacted chameleon? Just think it wouldn't hurt to be informed if this unfortunate condition ever occurs...

Thanks!:D

A quite warm misting usually does it for my girl :) if it's nice and sunny out, then warm misting outside :)

Impaction can be serious though and pinch nerves causing some poor little things to have troubles with hind legs. I'm not sure what a vet would do for a severely impacted cham though? There's likely medicine or a procedure for it too but it's never been a problem so I dunno :)

is your chameleon constipated? you said in your first post, incase it ever happens and then in your last one you said, you would take him outside and see if it helps?

How long is it until they are considered constipated, my cham usually goes a week without pooping is that bad:confused:

My guy ate a pretty big cricket once upon a time when he was little that was mixed in with the bunch of em. He didn't poop the next day and I called a cham vet and they said the best thing to do was to get peach baby food and shoot it down their throat with a needless syringe. My guy had a nice big poop the next morning. Hope this helps :D

She's not constipated, but has recently stopped eating, so no poop for a few days. She seems to be ready to lay, and neither her nor I have experienced this before. Just making sure I'm as informed as I can be if her not eating is caused by a different issue.

Thanks for the advice! ill keep peach baby food in mind :)

While I would love a photo to see if she is gravid, if she is near the bottom of the cage alot, and seems hyper, then a laying bin is in order.

It's normal for a gravid female to stop eatting when ready to lay eggs.

Wow, very informative! thank you guys...

I DO have a laying bin placed in her enclosure at all times..however she's completely uninterested in it. It looks like I have a project this evening.

Ill take pictures tonight and post them...maybe a video would help too? She's quite hyper and regularly wants out. I would love to hear all of your experienced advice!
