Hi guys! i just recieved a veiled male chameleon as a gift a few days ago, i just want to make sure my set up is correct. i have a tall mesh cage for him to climb, his vitamins, a small water bowl, fake leaves set up all around for him to climb, and crickets as meals. today ive noticed hes looked a little less green... less active too... ill look at him sometimes and he has one eye open and one closed.. what should i do?

He needs UVB light in the day and a heat lamp basking area. Also, he needs to be misted or have a slow drip onto the leaves because they do not drink from a dish.

We spray ours for about 2 minutes straight at least twice a day. It's hard to keep the high humidity because of the cage being mesh. Having a live potted plant helps to hold the humidity. Also you can put an ice cube on the cage over a leaf so the water melts and drips down to the leaves.

wow :)! i sprayed the cage and him and already he looks alot better! Thanks everyone!

do you reccomend i get a small live plant to put inside the cage?

yes, make sure to read the link I posted for you. It will answer all your questions. Live plants are good but they have to be cham safe especially for Veilds as they are herbivores (plant eaters )but primarily insectivores.

Keeping his eyes closed could be caused by many things. Lights, temperature, supplement issues, illness. Because we don't know about his set up we can't tell.
Filling in the form is so important because the slightest change to the way he is being looked after could be the difference between a healthy and an unhealthy Cham. Everyone has to learn including myself. I have had two veileds and thought I knew everything about Cham keeping till I found this site.
