I want to get a chameleon, but I'm not sure which type is the best. What kind is the best for beginners?

Please do your research first. This site is an awesome place to gain the knowledge you need to keep a Chameleon. Everyone is very helpful and will guide you along the way.

Keeping a Chameleon is not easy and requires a huge amount of attention and care to get it right.

With the right preparation a "beginner" could care for a panther ,Veiled or any other Chameleon. It is the commitment to raise a healthy Chameleon and provide everything it needs that is important.

What ever you choose if you share pictures of the enclosure and your cham we can all help you tune your setup.

Thanks everybody I've been doing research for about a month now, and it seems every website contradicts each other. You all have been very helpful. The links were very good also

I'm not sure diving in is a good idea.:eek:
This is a common mistake that people do the 1st time they want to have a chameleon. Buy one first and fix the husbandry along the way is a BAD idea.

What you should do, research first and search this forum (use the search function on the top green bar for basic care).

Ask questions that haven't been covered yet in your research to people in this forum.

Decide whether you are ready for such enormous responsibility (chameleons is absolutely time consuming and definitely will burn a hole in your wallet).

After you are 100% sure you can do it, buy ALL the equipment and set up the cage BEFORE you actually buy the chameleon.

Post the pic in this forum and ask advice whether you should fine tune or change anything in the cage.

Test run the cage (with misting and all) as if the chameleon is there to see if your drainage is working, and if you successfully create the optimal living condition for your chameleon (make adjustment accordingly). If you are stump, ask this forum again.

After everything is A OK, here comes the fun part! Buy the chameleon and enjoy!

Dodolah is absolutely right: proposing to 'dive in' is the worst thing you could possibly do. First read every single web article you can find (start with everything on the sites that were recommended above). Then spend some time reading through as many of the posts on this forum as you can. Read through other peoples' health issues and their solutions.

Only once you've gained all of that knowledge, and feel confident enough to be able to keep a single chameleon without having 'anything happen', then you are ready to get a chameleon.
