I'm not a bad Panther owner am I?

Howdy All,

When I saw the swapmeet photos it reminded me of this photo series from the Reptile Super Show in San Diego. http://reptilesupershow.com/Junne2008.htm. Amazing Blue Reptiles usually have 3 adult panthers calmly hanging on separate poles, about 8 feet up, in front of their booth. Even with a crowd of people watching, they still chomp down an irresistable silkworm shot-off a nearby finger :). Those chameleons have to earn their keep and they've been doing it for years .

I dont know how tall poker01619 is, but Im guessing he's not eight feet tall at the shoulder. Its one thing to be safely ABOVE things, another thing to be in amongst and surrounded by them.
Isnt it?

not to mention stationary. not loligagging around a crowded parkinglot with the risk of falling off, batted off, being stepped on, pushed, bumped ,crowded, smushed, squashed.

as previously stated, extremly poor judgement on pokers part.

To add to the comment about chams not being in zoos often, I just came from NY and i went to a museum there that had reptiles as an exhibit and one of them was an adult male veild chameleon and he looked terrible even thought his enviroment looked great uv lights lots of space plenty of foliage he had a big knot on his head, his spine was crooked and he was on the skinnny side. I assume that being in that high traffic enviroment had to do with it.

Yeah, I would skip taking a chameleon to a swap meet.
I'm going to guess (and don't be offeneded if I'm wrong:eek:) that you're young. And I don't think that you are a bad panther owner, just a panther owner that needs to tweak the way he thinks of his chameleon. If you want a "friend" you should get a dog. Chameleons just naturally don't respond well (whether it is evident to you or not) to high traffic, crowded, noisy situations. Too many exposures to such a situation, I would imagine, will shorten his life. I'm sure you don't want that!

All u lot in this disscusion should think yourself lucky that ur chameleons can at least flippin' WALK, LET ALONE SITTING ON UR SHOULDER!!!!!!!

so stop frikkin fighting!!

Seriously.......... your gonna respond to this thread with an Avatar like that?

My thoughts exactly he may be the happiest cham ever but what happens when someone bumps you he falls off and the next person steps on him.
